Sure Scherzer is old and didn't throw many innings last year and hasn't thrown more than 170 in a long time but he's been a good pitcher for the innings he has pitched. ERAs in the 3's. He's basically getting paid #4 money for 1 year so there's almost zero risk. This is a good move.

If the Jays really wanted to flip off the rest of baseball, they'd get Bregman AND Alonso somehow and re-sign Bo and Vlad.

Both means that Clement is super sub (or traded) and they don't move any farm depth to patch.

What I like about Max is simply if he can stay healthy we have a solid tradeable asset for the deadline if we have another bad season
