Every injury is because of a lack of a ****ty player on your team who needs to fight apparently.

Listen, if you INSIST on an AHL goon fine. But don’t put him on D and give him 4 ****ing million dollars.

Not every injury, but that one was

I didn't insist, put him on D, or pay him $4 million. But who cares? We had a very solid physical D man/enforcer in Engelland. People couldn't wait to get rid of him cause 'speed'. Cole was very good. He had to go too. Reaves. Oleksiak. Let's face it, anyone bigger than Nathan Gerbe or more physical than Marcel Goc isn't wanted around here by most 'fans'

Wow, 13 pages on this almost every post negative and this is before he's played a game in a Pens uniform. And I thought the Canucks board was bad. Remember: the Canucks org has an uncanny knack of taking decent players and turning them into worthless crap. He might just rebound. If nothing else he's big...

Canucks aren't supposed to be challenging for Stanley Cups with two of the greatest players to have ever played on their current roster.

I'm sure you can see why a bottom five worst player in the league might piss people off without him actually playing yet.

How often do players that have been turned into worthless crap on the Canucks end up good elsewhere? Looking through all of their recent trades, I think only McCann fits that, and that's easily explained by McCann being like 19 when the Canucks traded him.

The problem wasn’t the Gudbranson trade. It was the Hagelin trade. We took on term for a struggling player with no relief. I would have preferred if JR had gotten LA to eat some contract in year 2 & 3 to even up the deal.

Pearson and Gudbranson were both wasted dollars we got stuck with. Both have similar term and dollars.

I feel JR thought that we might as well have an overpaid doorstop on D vs an overpaid doorstop on O based on our present needs.

Curse you Flyers .

Jesus this place has become so unbearable. I get everyone's concerns, but you're all acting like we just traded Crosby for Jay Beagle or something. Other than his first two weeks here, Pearson did absolutely nothing. Replacing him with Simon or Blueger is an upgrade in itself. Gudbranson replacing Rudwhel in our lineup doesn't really make our shitty defense any less shitty. And sure there may be concerns with the cap but there's plenty of time in the offseason to deal with that. Really I think the risk/reward ratio favors us in this trade, especially if Gudbranson could turn himself into the physical shutdown he was meant to be in his draft year. I get that may really be a stretch, but f*** me for trying to look at this in a positive light. If not, who cares? We gave up nothing and we'll still suck like we have been sucking.

I don't see too many people WANTING Pearson back. But I do see many people NOT wanting Gudbranson at all.

It's not the cost. It's the fact a total POS was bought at all.

It's a bad move that didn't need to happen.

Right. Because Kris Letang is known for keeping his cool and certainly would have waited for someone else to exact vengeance.

The 2nd goal where he has 2 teammates right there, one of whom is covering no one? That's actually one of the 2 I wouldn't fault him for. If Smith had hung onto the puck going around the net, Gudbranson would have been the only player with an ability to be anywhere near him.

You have 2 forwards up high and 1 forward down low. And then there's someone standing in the crease covering no one while the other down low player (I can't tell who's who in the frame I froze) is chasing the guy behind the net, but cuts back once the pass was made. Probably a good thing too considering he was a good 5-8 feet behind Smith anyway and at that point shouldn't have been chasing Smith behind the net.

The point was him following Marchessault despite him passing the puck on the other side of the net. It makes him look like he has absolute rocks for brains and can't react to anything.

I'm not saying he's going to be fantastic or anything, injuries have definitely hurt his game, but he should bring some size and hopefully be a decent bottom pairing d man for you guys. Canuck fans were almost psychotic in their hatred of him.

What most Canucks fans won’t tell you is how Gudbranson has gone through long stretches of good top 4 level play and a stretch this season where he looked like he could be a top pairing minute muncher who defends well. Yes he gets derailed by injury and his confidence is shot by now but do not listen to what most Canucks fans are saying about Gudbranson. Watch him play for the Penguins and judge for yourself. If Guddy keeps it simple he can be a damn good player who fights as good as or better than anyone in the league.

Well Nilsson has almost instantly found his game in Ottawa after being screwed over mightily in Van and Gagner has gone from unusable in the entire Canucks org to a breath of fresh air in Edmonton, at least so far. Del Zotto went from being worth a 7th and a worthless player (mainly because he was a healthy scratch more often than not) to being worth an unencumbered 6th as a result of only 12 games of intelligent usage by the hapless Ducks. None of them are stars but they were worthless on the Canucks and all of them have found new life elsewhere...

You are right, Canuck fans are totally bi-polar when it comes to their players; they can either do no wrong or no right and Guddy was in the latter category. He played a lot of tough minutes there, often with the wretched Pouliot as his partner and he is legit tough.

Thing about guys who are good players underneath a long bad stretch on a bad team and built up confidence issues is it takes time to wash that crap off. Kinda not ideal for a play-off race.

But whatever. Fingers crossed he forms a good partnership with Petterson fast and proves the majority of us wrong.

Please don't get everyone started on Pouliot.
