Then and there
In the 'modern/re-branded' Premier League yes, but they were in the first division in the 80s/early 90s. They won the League Cup in 1988

I will never forget their artificial pitch back then (and the high-scoring results that went with it), some of the favourite players were the Stein brothers and Mick Harford, who is still in and around the club (was in attendance today).

Extra time between Sheff Wednesday and Barnsley. Barnsley have played well despite the early second half red card.

Lots of news early on in League One...

Wigan's ownership woes are seemingly over, but of course we've thought that before. I hope so, for their sake.

Reading's however, seem to be just beginning, with them being charged by the EFL for late payments.

Portsmouth opened the transfer window with a bang, with 5 signings in the first 3 days. Admittedly I don't know too much about who they signed, but it does mark a shift in philosophy. They're all permanent signings as opposed to loans, and they were clearly early targets. In the past few years Pompey have waited until much later in the window to move, seemingly looking for bargains.

At least one signing, Devlin (from Irish Premiership side Glentoran), seems to be a big win, as he had allegedly drawn Premier League interest. Plus it's a 3 year (+1 year option) deal for a 19 year old. Big upside to be had!

The owner of a popular English football club was killed in a “tragic accident” on Cape Cod on the Fourth of July, local authorities and team officials said.

John G. Berylson, 70, of Wellesley, was driving a 2019 Range Rover on Sippewissett Road in Falmouth around 8 a.m. Tuesday when he lost control on a curve, left the road, rolled over in a ravine, and came to rest against a tree, according to the Falmouth Police Department.

Berylson, the owner and chairman of Millwall Football Club, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Barnsley hire Neill Collins as their manager, he was the manager of the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the US second tier for many years. Although he was born in Scotland his only managerial role was in Tampa so a fairly significant hire from the USL

Anyone following W Brom comment on what went wrong with Kenneth Zohore? Hardly played after a transfer from the Blue Birds and his first season with Odense he hardly played.

When's the last time there was a double promotion?

I'm guessing the newly demoted PL sides usually demolish the newly promoted League One teams in the Championship?

promotion from the League Two (or its equivalent) to the Championship is the most common occurrence over the past 25 years. It appears the step up from League Two to League One is small, with clubs such as Brighton, Peterborough and Rotherham achieving the double promotion up to the Championship in recent years.

Quite a few are predicting that Ipswich could do a double promotion.

QPR look in a world of trouble already

I’ve seen over a dozen predictions for League Two and every one has Wrexham going up again like it was obvious that they were going to just do a double promotion.
Well I think the whole winning the league in a walk stuff was silly (even pre-Mullin injury), this is a tougher league than it was even five or ten years ago. But it wasn't just them that had an off opener:

Welcome back to the Football League lol, guess this is gonna be mass chaos
