The English Lower League thread (Part 2)

I just noticed Burnley have conceded only 9 goals all season 😳 problem is they are barely scoring over 1.0 a game. Relegation race really heating up with Pompey and Plymouth picking up form

With 14 matches to go, it's still wide open from 2-8 in League 2. Doncaster is 2nd, but they have played at least 1 more match than everyone behind them

2-Doncaster-58 (+1 game played)
3-Wimbledon-57
4-Notts-57
5-Bradford City-57
6-Port Vale-55 (2 games in hand with Doncaster, 1 game in hand with everyone else ahead of them)
7-Crewe-52 (+1 game played)
8-Grimsby-51

None of the top 8 play each other this week, so there's no telling what this will look like in 7 days. Bradford City is the only club 2-8 who have a midweek match in addition to the Saturday match.

Yeah, it’s crazy with Burnley and that defensive record. I think JJ Watt made some sort of bet with the team as well. After yet another clean sheet this weekend it’s only 2 goals allowed in the last two months.

Quick update before today's matches. Bradford City won both of their matches springing them into 2nd and with 1st place Walsall lost again, they are just 4 points back

1-Walsall-67
2-Bradford-63
3-Doncaster-61

4-Notts-58 (1 game in hand)
5-Wimbledon-57 (1 game in hand)
6-Port Vale-56 (2 games in hand)
7-Crewe-55

8-Grimsby-52 (1 game in hand)
9-Salford-48

Crazy match day on Tuesday. Only ONE of the top nine picked up 3 points, and that was 2nd place Bradford, who find themselves racing up behind Walsall, who have pissed away a 10 pt lead

1-Walsall-68
2-Bradford-66
3-Doncaster-61
4-Knotts-58 (1 in hand)
5-Wimbledon-57 (1 in hand)
6-Port Vale-57 (2 games in hand)
7-Crewe-55
8-Grimsby-53 (1 in hand)
9-Bromley-51

Pompey beat Championship leaders Leeds at home today, taking 4 points of them this season.

Top 3 this year scored 0 goals and won 0 games at Fratton. An absolute masterclass managerial job by John Mousinho, especially when you consider we've lost 6 centerbacks for the season (with a 7th missing significant time earlier)...captain Marlon Pack has been playing centerback, and he's normally a DM.

I have felt all year we'd be safe, and with today's win Pompey sit 10 points clear with 10 matches to go.

Once again, the top 9 were not in good form as only 3 of the top 9 got all 3 points.

1-Walsall-68
2-Bradford-66
3-Doncaster-62
4-Wimbledon-60 (1 in hand)
5-Knotts-58 (1 in hand)
6-Port Vale-58 (2 in hand)
7-Crewe-56
8-Grimsby-56 (1 in hand)
9-Colchester-52 (1 in hand)
10-Bromley-51

Wimbledon, Port Vale, Colchester, Grimsby and Knotts all have matches Tuesday to make up matches in hand, so there will be some consolidation before next weekend.

The weekend ends like so:

1-Walsall-70
2-Bradford-69
3-Wimbledon-64
4-Port Vale-64 (1 in hand)
5-Doncaster-63 (1 in hand)
6-Notts-62
7-Grimsby-59
8-Colcester-58
9-Crewe-58

ETA: Some big matches this weekend:

Walsall-Wimbledon
Colcester-Grimsby
Crewe-Port Vale

8-Colchester-58
9-Crewe-58
10-Salford-56 (1 in hand)
11-Chesterfield-55 (1 in hand) 5th best goal difference

Huge mid-week matches on Tuesday, the top 4 play each other

Doncaster-Walsall
Port Vale-Bradford City

I want Bradford to get promoted, but if they and Walsall lose and Wimbledon and Notts win, 6 teams will be within 3 points of the top.

Doncaster-Walsall was a draw, but Port Vale made it tighter at the top with a 2-0 win over Bradford. 6 match days to go:

1-Walsall-72
2-Bradford-70
3-Port Vale-70

4-Doncaster-67 (1 in hand)
5-Wimbledon-65
6-Knotts-65 (1 in hand)
7-Grimsby-62

8-Crewe-61
9-Colcester-59
10-Chesterfield-58 (1 in hand)
11-Salford-57 (1 in hand)

Top of the table Walsall hosts 3rd place Port Vale in another huge match while 2nd place Bradford hosts 8th place Crewe who are fighting for the last playoff spot. Knotts plays today, so they may be 4th once the weekend matches come

Leeds faltering a bit, three straight draws and only one win in 5

At the bottom half under Eustace now Derby have won 4 in a row (while on the other end Blackburn have fallen apart since he left). Though despite the four game winning streak they are still only one point above the drop. Luton are also now unbeaten in four and have given themselves a chance. Only Plymouth look like they are done

Well so much for that post above, Plymouth beat Norwich while Sheffield United surprisingly lost to Oxford

Top three separated by 2 points

Knotts won their mid-week match, so they were in 4th when the day began. In the early game, Walsall were up 2-1 over Port Vale but lost the match and the lead in the league. Walsall has gone d/l/d/l/d/d/d/d/l in their last 9 and have blown their massive lead.

Port Vale were briefly top of the table after that match, but Bradford City took advantage of the opening by shutting out Crewe 2-0 and now lead League Two

1-Bradford City-73
2-Port Vale-73
3-Walsall-72

4-Doncaster-70 (1 in hand, would move to 2nd with a win)
5-Wimbeldon-68
6-Knotts-68
7-Grimsby-65

8-Colchester-62
9-Crewe-61
10-Chesterfield-58 (1 in hand)
11-Salford-58 (1 in hand)

Lots of tops playing bottoms this weekend. 4th place Doncaster and 5th place Wimbledon face off, but no other top 10 teams face off.
