Snowblind almost never complains when the team wins and has been criticizing all thread. How the f*** am I being compared to him?
Agreed, this is a gross mischaracterization.

The New & Improved, Sunshine & Rainbows Snowblind should never be mixed up with the pre-GF, f*** the world, every goalie is a f***ing POS, f*** this team, Snowblind.

The Rangers are top 10 in xGF in the NHL. They have slipped in their analytics but most of the season they were top 10 in every category but were losing and you were whining then too.

Edit: They're 14th in GF%, not great but above average and above 50%.
been on the decline since early November. I dont see anything stopping that

You are starting to give Snowblind a run for his money
this isn't irate emotion. I'm being objective and logical.

This team does very little well. I do not know what else to say.

Just from that stat page that SnowBlind psoted:

Rangers team SH%: 7.94, good for 21st in the NHL.
Rangers team SV: 91.76, good for 15th. This seems high since both Halak and Igor are below this so they may actually be lower

In what should be all of our opinions, this team will not continue to shoot at the 11th worst rate in the league. More are bound to go in.
In what should be all of our opinions, this team will not continue to get .918SV% from their 2 goaltenders. Igor is now up to .916. They may be lower than 15th in SV% b/c I'm not sure how they have a team .918 SV% when both goalies are below that mark. Igor will be better, Halak can't be any worse.

These two things along should start trending results in the right direction. After all, it is a resultd based lague and you need points and wins, but underlying stats like these can be strong indactors of hwat has yet to regress/improve to a normal rate for their roster talent.

One caveat: the Rangers could likely balance plain shots vs High danger shots better, as they sit 12th in HDCF yet 8th in CF, signifying they take alot of shots, but not an equal proportion of HDS.
That said, they rank 8th in scoring chances for, yet 14th in GF, so they should eventually score more of their chances given shooting talent.

Despite all the negativity, lots of encouraging signs. And a 4-game win streak.:)

I'd take people more seriously if they were like Machinehead and were all "we're playing better than our record" when they were outshooting and outplaying every team they played and losing and now are upset. But no, when we were losing, no one but a select few cared about the analytics. Now it's all about the analytics, STFU.
??? I've always employed eye test and gut test and results hand in hand with underlying statistics.

If you feel like you should have one but didn't (and you're not lying to yourself with bias), analytics likely have some support in that basis.

If you feel like you lucked out in a win by just watching the game, analytics likely can support your eye and gut test.

We're all just really saying the same thing when you say watch the game because what we all "watch" is the literal basis on which analytics are computed and calculated. Never understood the huge argument in the grand scheme of things.

The big difference where eye test can help is with intangibles. If a guy has a need to block alot of shots, it probably means the other team has the puck alot when he's on the ice (analytics)...BUT, I'd much rather have a guy willing to block the shots (gotta watch the game to see this cause analytics don't care about guts and balls and willingness to sacrifice when needed) than one who would shy away in G7 of the Playoffs. Gotta balance the two and have guys in right roles and have a good mix.

lmao, this combined with your avi though....

Were people actually griping at the fact that our PP1 stayed on the ice for the full first PP when there was one zone clear and the quick up forced their PK to stay out.

No agenda spotted.

I'd really like to see what Drury can do about 3LD. Hajek has been absolutely terrible lately, he was so bad tonight. Basically every time he was out there it was poor positioning, poor puck movement, unforced icings, turnovers over and over and over. He can spot in against the weak teams, but against a good team he's a ticking time bomb.

If you can bring in just a replacement level player to take his spot it will be a massive upgrade. If it's not going to be Jones then Drury really should consider making a move sooner rather than later.

I’m not reading through this thread tonight, but here are my thoughts.

1. I love Fox’s decision to shoot the puck on Trocheck’s goal. Everyone on the PK thought Fox and Zibanejad were going to switch and set up, but Fox shot the puck instead. That’s the kind of unpredictability that can open up other options for the PP.

2. I’m not seeing enough made of Chytil’s pass on Kakko’s goal. It was barely mentioned in the TV broadcasts. That behind the back backhand pass made the tying goal possible.

3. That was an absolute snipe in the GWG by Chytil. One of the biggest reasons I am not enamored with Gallant now is the lack of trust in the young players. After the kids tied the game, it seemed like they were used as the fourth line. We should not be burying our best 5v5 players in favor of playing “safe” hockey. We need to ride the kids when we can.

Totally agree. 100% We as an org with state of team were never in a position to get Laf or Kakko, they fell into our laps.

Most teams that get these guys have immediate openings and no real urgency for immediate ALL-AROUND GAME results. Hughes could have 2 points and the Devs lose 6-4 and everyones happy because he played 20 and had 2 points despite being a liability defensively.

Early on, A) That was never there for Laf because of Kreider/Panarin and B) we couldn't afford both him and Kakko top 6 RW on those learning curves when you are a team with Panarin, Zibaneajd, Kreider, Trouba, Fox, Shesterkin (and at certain times) Buchnevich Strome Trocheck etc. We had/have significant LT big $$$ commitments that we couldn't waste potentially playing our way out of standings pointd and W's for the kids sakes.

It would have absolutely been better for them if we did, but we coulnd't. So it takes them longer to develop all aspects of game and confidence. They're coming around, and other than the odd benching between Kakkos GTG and Chytil GWG seeing only one shift, getting more ice time at ES as 2nd line or split amongst top 6.
Yes - important to keep this in mind. Not spoon feeding the kids minutes doesnt kill their development. it certainly slows it down, the scoring part especially, which is painful right now. But these guys will reach their level. Just taking longer. Last season the devils were floundering but developing Hughes and Mercer...the Rangers werent able to do that. It's frustrating for sure but i think the kids will get there in the end.

Im liking Trocheck more and more.

He’s a winner and acts like it win or lose in the interviews
I like him fine enough. He made some good plays. But he also needs to manage the puck better at times. He made a series of poor zone entries that resulted in turnovers. That said the pass on the Kreider goal was fantastic as was the tip.

The first two Devils goals were total hummers. The first one goes in once-in-a-hundred-tries and the second was a direct result of a penalty. The third goal was beautiful, absolutely, but it’s not like the rangers were bailed out by a hot goalie. If anything it was even-Steven.

Edit: I should say, i didn’t get to watch the whole game. Just saw the condensed game.

Best part of the game was we scored 3 really nice goals and Chytil's winner was probably our first and only real "snipejob" of the season lol
