haha it's right in front of your eyes. Softly lofted the puck away around the boards because he was afraid of getting hit. You saw it. We all saw it. You just won't admit it

and to think this little kitten sat out for his 11 million until he got his way

Leafs are screwed until they can somehow rid themselves of players like this

dude Marner comes into frame about half way though, he doesn't have the puck, it comes round the boards Gallagher slides in behind him and gets to the rolling puck first, Marner doesn't loft anything because he never had nor touched the puck, he was looking to pick it up higher on the boards

what exactly is it you'd like him to do in that situation?

11 million but I heard he’s already been paid like 9 this year as a bonus so maybe at 2million cash a team would bite and overpay for this entitled baby. Makes me sick to think how many kids from Toronto would play for this team for the league minimum and a better chance at winning

righttttttttttttttttt:confused::confused:

get landy for 7 when he wants 9
But….but…. Toronto:sarcasm:

No one comes to take a pay cut here, it’s the exact opposite. Tavares took more, Marleau took more, RFAs took more, Rielly will soon take more or leave. Expecting anyone to take less than they should is ridiculous, especially with this team

we are the bank team, come here and make bank. If you don’t care about winning, then even better. If you do, don’t worry, we will suck that instinct right out

It doesn’t cost anything to make the offer. If he says no, it’s no.
I wouldn’t start offering every forward 11 million, that would be foolish for a GM to do and cap suicide.

That's not true. Tavares was reportedly offered 14 million per year by San Jose.

And that’s still an overpayment. Difference is that it’s from a decent overpayment vs the worst contract signed in hockey, possibly ever.

simply put, a 70-80 point Center isn’t worth a dime over 9.5

he took more than he should, even for going to any team, nonetheless he came home, yet no “hometown” discount was actually given

Marner should have taken that straight line route to the puck without hesitation and depending on how the Montreal player closes in on him chips it out on the boards, eats the puck on the boards or skates it out clean.

Marner, Tavares, Matthews, Nylander

None of them have won us a series yet. We haven't gotten a truly dominant playoff performance from any of these guys so far which is crazy. You'd think at least 1 of the 4 would have a double-digit in pts series in the 3 years they've been here.

Right now, in the 3 years of the Dubas era, none of the stars have lived up to their contracts come playoffs. Dubas is sticking with these guys again for a 4th try. If they fail it should be the final try and we should move on accepting that they aren't capable playoff performers for our mis constructed team

Ok? Marner has more career playoff pts than Matthews.

Very true. Unfortunately ever since Marner started facing top competition his numbers have been very disappointing and worst than Matthews (IIRC).

No more Matthews and Marner together please. Nylander can do better than what Marner has done in the playoffs with Matthews. Marner had some amazing series being able to feast on the lesser matchups with JT. Just go back to that. If opening night comes around and It's Matthews and Marner together again I'll finally know Keefe is insane, Dubas is in over his head, and/or Matthews is running the organization. If you're going to run back the same expensive core again fine, but we can't just keep doing the same thing over and over again when it doesn't work.

Marner is an amazing talent. That can't be argued. But come playoff time there is something seriously wrong with him. Is he scared out there? Could be. Or is there just too much going on between his ears that he can't handle the pressure? He's just not the same player come playoff time. He doesn't know if he should sh** or wind his watch, as the old saying goes, when he has the puck. He seems to want to just get rid of it asap whether that means tossing it over the glass or, when he has time, make the worst possible decision with it. He shoots when he should pass. Passes when he should shoot. I don't know what the answer is.

Passes when he should shoot. I don't know what the answer is.

He needs counseling.

He's not handling the pressure well.

He should have been placed on the third line for game 6 & 7 minimum.

Keefe felt he could play through. Keefe was wrong.

A good rhetoric has evidence to prove their opinion... I asked you to tell me the goals that aren't scored by Matthews without Marner and you ignored it.

Matthews won Calder for rookie of the year with 40 goals. Mitch had nothing to do with it then, and he still has nothing to do with Matthews goal production.

I think it's a combination of a lack of a good shot and lack of speed.... last two playoffs I've noticed him get caught from behind a lot. Or his shot stripped because of his slow release.

He doesn't have enough power in his wrists and forearms...he glides his stick blade across the ice to try to generate some extra momentum to get the puck off, so it's very easy for the goalie to read his shot...he can't snap it with enough whipping action to get a quick and hard shot off...he's got a bad shot and it ain't going to get much better...how else could he have gone 73 regular season games in a row without a PP goal despite having the most PP TOI and 18 playoff games without a goal? Dude is massively overpaid and plays scared in the playoffs...and an alternate captain too, what a joke!

At the end of the day, for better or for worse, we're not dealing Mitch. Seeing him cry in the box is concerning and the team needs to get him a sports psychologist to try and work through it. You can't get that low in the playoffs, especially when we're leading the series and could still comeback in the game

It worked for Mackinnon and worked for MAF. It might work for Mitch

Yup……all this is 100% true.
Dubas was duped by some early razzle dazzle play and blew the wad on him

I've got the perfect solution here.

Seattle claims Carey Price in draft and then turns around and trades him to the Leafs for Marner and Campbell.

Marner $10.9 mil Out and Price $10.5 mil IN..
That's a terrible idea. Price is 33 with 5 more years on his contract and has had some injuries and consistency issues the past few years. There's a good chance his contract will look much worse three years from now than Marner's.

If the Leafs are getting rid of Marner, they're better off spreading that money out a bit more for a cheaper forward and defenseman.

But the Leafs could legit win a Stanley Cup in the process over the course of those 5 years and isn't that the objective ?

you should save all that repressed nonsense my friend, perhaps a better use of your time would be to write a strongly worded letter to the hospital you were born at!
This is the most awkward and cringe response I have ever read Paul
