If Vegas wins it's quite interesting because they are getting quite balanced contributions across the board. I would think Eichel and Stone would be the top contenders at this point, but really still lots of time. Someone like Stephenson or Marchessault could take the team lead in scoring before the end.

He may actually win it even with a loss in the finals, if the series goes the distance in 7 games.
To win the CS trophy when losing the SCF one thing is required: he has to perform at level comparable to the opponent’s goaltender. Might not need to be 7 games, but a sweep or a 5-gamer might not justify the unorthodox choice of a losing team player.

Vegas doesn’t have a standout performer right now. If it’s them and Florida and Bob keeps playing this way, he’ll win no matter who the cup winner is.

Eichel has been their best player but it doesn’t always show up on the scoreboard the same way as Hintz or Tkchuk.

I think Giguere was the last player to do that with Anaheim, in 2003. Too lazy to look it up. Are there any others?
You’re correct that Giguere was the last one. Hextall in ‘87 before him. Can’t remember off the top of my head who the others were. It was widely accepted that Thomas would have won anyway if the Bruins lost Game 7 in 2011 but they won so it doesn’t count. In all these examples, the losing team pushed it to 7 games.

Bob would be the 4th goalie to win the Conn Smythe in a losing effort, following Giguere (03), Hextall (87), Hall (68) and Crozier (66)

Reggie Leach (1976) was the only skater to win one in a losing effort; not surprisingly it was the same year he set the high mark for goals in a postseason with 19.
