He’s not there yet but I’m guessing by the end of this series if the oilers win it will be a toss up between him and Leon
I can tell that McDavid is starting to feel it. I think he blows this thing wide open.

He had 5 even strength points and was a minus player until this last game. Despite putting up points, he was brutal in the LA series. Doing absolutely nothing outside of assisting on the PP.

This is about the Conn Smythe. Stop being a delusional fanboy, it makes you look silly.

Maybe he gets into that conversation over the playoffs, but he sure as hell isn't there now.

This is where I stopped reading this nonsense.

Draisaitl has been flat out bad in 2 of the past 3 games now, but he was also pretty bad during a stretch of the LA series last year before going nuts in the Calgary series, so he’s still going to be in this thing if Edmonton is able to keep playing…

Which brings me to the next point that we all already knew: Edmonton is so reliant on 2 forwards that’s it’s not even funny. It’s pathetic. So if Edmonton keeps winning it means that Draisaitl is again producing because they basically have no chance of winning unless both of their stars are dominating.

Yzerman and/or Fedorov could and did have bad series while not producing and still wound up playing another round. Same goes for Sakic/Forsberg - hell they won a Cup without Forsberg for the final rounds. Even Crosby could go a 7 game series against 09 Detroit with only 3 pts and -3 and still end up hoisting the Cup. That doesn’t seem even remotely possible for Edmonton. If either McDavid or Draisaitl only produced at that rate they’re not even sniffing a game 7. That’s how bad this team around them is. It’s maddening.

The difference between Crosby/Malkin and McDavid/Drai is that Crosby/Malkin were able to carry their own lines, usually consisting of borderline Top 6 wingers, and not lose their ability to generate offense at ES.

McDavid now leads the playoff scoring race.

He’d be the right choice for Edmonton at the moment, since Drai has been wilting.

Oilers need two huge wins in a row now though, they are in tough against a solid Vegas team.

The biggest difference in Crosby vs. McDrai is Crosby was/is good 200ft. The Oilers duo are floating in their own zone and waiting for opportunities to counter.

Updated points:

  • Connor McDavid 19
  • Roope Hintz 18
  • Leon Draisaitl 18
  • Evan Bouchard 17
  • Matthew Tkachuk 16
  • Mitchell Marner 14
  • Jack Eichel 13
  • Mark Stone 12
  • Morgan Rielly 12
  • Carter Verhaeghe 12
My Top3:

1. Roope Hintz
2. Bobcop/Tkachuk
3. Draisaitl

I still feel Hintz has been the best player in theese playoffs. 200ft play and 2nd in points with 17min icetime. BobCop has been more than stellar and I feel he and Montour won the Leaf-series for Panthers. Tkachuk took out Boston so they are at a draw. Draisaitl has been better for Oilers than McDavid. Connor just feasts on the PP. He`s been nothing special 5vs5 IMO

HM: Montour, Stone, Slavin, Rielly and VERY SURPRISING - Martinook

There should be no issue with using McDavid as an offensive weapon like OV and Jagr but he does lose something to Crosby who was able to produce with any quality of linemate and play responsible defense as a C.

Sometimes you get the feeling McDavid and Draisaitl dont play for the team, but for themselves and eachother. They leave a lot on table defensively, even I believe both have the tools to be very good 2-way. They kinda cheat on defense for points and leave others out to dry. This is causing also their goalies to look worse than they are. If McDavid doesnt start working enough both ways he will never be on the same level as Gretzky, Mario, Crosby IMO.

I don't know why Mcdavid or Drai are being mentioned. You can't win the Conn Smythe by losing in round 2
They havent lost yet.

My votes for each team still standing -

Vegas - Jack Eichel
Edmonton - Leon Draisatl (or McDavid)
Dallas - Joe Pavelski (or Hintz)
Seattle - Jordan Eberle
Florida - Sergei Bobrovsky
Carolina - Sebastian Aho

Hard time picking for Carolina and Seattle, who are really getting a lot done by committee, IMO.

How come you pick thoose? I`d go:

Vegas - Stone
Edmonton - Draisaitl
Dallas - Hintz. Only double the points than Pavelski and a very good 2-way player
Seattle - Schultz
Florida - Bobcop
Carolina - Slavin AINEC
