Nonis seems to believe that because Carlyle coached them to the playoffs in the 48-game season, it can happen again.

Even Haley's Comet comes by once every 75 years. Wonders never cease.

Well I guess this means that they are blaming the players. I wonder if that means that we will see massive changes in personnel?

Nonis spoke at length about Randy's ability to find success with "this group" of players.

i assume Gardiner is gone but they didn't make it sounds like a huge turnover is in store.

While in reality a lot of the responsibility has to fall on the players, it's the HBO 24/7 special that kind of opened my eyes. There really wasn't anything inspiring about him.

Randy's excuse at the end of the year as to why the Leafs failed was that they lost their mojo. Mgmt deemed that to be a competent excuse

Science!

But seriously guys, everyone is dumping on Carlyle after a terrible season, yes. But keep in mind he was our golden boy just a year ago after the team made the playoffs for the first time in a decade in a "doesn't count" year. They had their flaws but they played hard. Now? I don't even know.

Carlyle could turn this ar.....wait, extension?

Okay yeah I can't defend the extension.

If management feels that his vision for the way the team should play is correct ie, he's asking them to do the right kind of things it just isn't implemented then this might not be the end of the world.

It's like a school, if youre happy that the teacher is telling them the right things and asking the correct questions but it's the kids who are "challenged" then you get rid of the kids not the teacher, and allow him to develop the ones who are onboard.

Randy ran two of the guys that played hard out of town.

It is absolutely the right move if there is a group of players that are the problem. Bringing in a new coach doesn't fix that problem, only trading them away will.
