True, but IDK, Gallant seems like the model coach and guy. IDK if there are any skeletons in that closet?
I have asked some people who know him some and none of them had ever heard anything in that regard about him.....personally I think he is too driven to have skeletons like that . What Gallant said in the this morning radio interview was basically verified by a family member yesterday to me about teams doing due diligence or whatever they want to call it ....negotiating with another potential candidate ? Negotiating over the term or the amount ? Screwing Vegas out of the last few weeks/salary of his deal with them ? ;)

If it's believed RBA won't be available then Gallant makes the most sense. I'd be happy with RBA, Gallant, or even Tortorella although the latter probably isn't realistic.

I'd be happy with Torts if this team was constructed differently. He is not the coach for us.

At this point unless something drastic happens I can't imagine it being anyone other than Gallant.

I know we are all getting antsy waiting for them to name a coach, but with every passing day, more tidbits of information come out that lead me to think there's at least a chance RBA leaves Carolina. His assistant coaches are apparently allowed to look elsewhere, top defenseman is available in a sign and trade.

Maybe Drury can pull off this heist

RBA built and shaped the Carolina team as a development coach and later head coach. Gallant is more of a rah rah guy we are told.

I agree. I don’t understand the infatuation with RBA when Gallant is sitting right there.

I'm in this camp too. Gallant won a Jack Adams and his reputation speaks for itself. Not to mention the latest Gold at World's with the team he had.

I think RBA seems more attractive because he is currently untouchable and something that can't be had - at least right now. Gallant is available and ready to go and he's got much more experienced as a coach.

Not to say RBA isn't or won't be but Gallant is further along the road and you get the sense its the perfect timing to get a coach at that point in his career. These types of coaches aren't usually available when you need them to be.

I am hoping they are putting the final touches on his contract as we speak.

I’d prefer Gallant but would be okay with Rod. Having said that, I don’t like the possibility of losing out on Gallant to chase the possibility of Rod. Take the best coach actually available - that’s Gallant no question.

I've been leaning in this direction as well. It's just hard to know with Carolina why they are getting stopped in the playoffs. I think their roster is better than almost any team in the east. Yet they're not having the playoff success yet. This could just be their youth and the fact that their D and goaltending still need some stabilizing. But I wonder if Rod is just the ultimate motivator and maybe lacks that experience for in-game strategy and systems that we've lacked under Quinn in recent years.

Do you know where Gallant lives? It's time to pull a John Cusack and serenade him with the Rangers goal song.

It's been just over a month since DQ was fired. Chris is a new GM. If you think about it theres a lot to do other than the coaching search in your first 4 weeks of being a GM. In that sense he really hasn't been "sitting" on anything.

But I would expect something to be done soon with the draft and expansion little over 5 weeks away, especially since you wouldn't expect any coach who made the final 4 let go.

Well Columbus made their move. Still waiting on the Rangers, Coyotes, and Seattle.

The expansion draft is 37 days away. Vegas hired Gallant more than two months before their expansion draft back in 2017.

Come on, Francis. Or Armstrong. Or Drury. Do something.

Is everyone really just waiting on Brind'Amour?

Yeah, Seattle not having a coach yet is a lot more interesting than us not having one. A coach isn’t going to play a significant role in the amateur draft, but you’d think that he’d be a critical player in the expansion draft.

Might honestly be a good reason for Seattle to hire the coach after the expansion draft. Let management build the best team and find a coach to coach it. Coaching getting involved in personnel decisions rarely works out as expected.
