Found it interesting that Elliot Friedman on 31 thoughts said he received a cryptic text, regarding Rod Brind’Amour, saying “buckle up.” His main thing was making sure his assistants would return and be well compensated. The fact that one has permission to seek a bigger role or more $ should definitely signal something.

Yeah it does...His assistant wants no part of Seattle .

Seattle is a nice city. It has the rain stereotype but it's a pleasant place. If San Francisco and New Paltz had a baby minus how ridiculously pricey Cisco is.

So no firings yet. I don't see the Avs/Jets/Bruins dumping their coaches.

I was there during a sunny part of year and it was beautiful.

It's been noted that Rod has an aversion to a big market and NYC. I don't know where it came from, but that's the word.
Well FWIW ....Gallant indicated to a good friend of mine in a conversation before he started the Panther job about how he felt better about it being in a smaller market city . Keep in mind that was quite a few years ago and I'm sure his confidence has grown . For some guys though it has to play a part as the pressure must get unreal...not everybody can cope with that . Like coaching in TO or Montreal...it would be unreal in bad times and in a lot of the good times ....

Are you saying that may indicate we're pursuing Brind'Amour?

All I know about Seattle is that like Vancouver it rains a lot . Does it ?
It doesn’t rain as much as people think it does. The area west of the cascade mountains is a temperate rainforest. It rains more frequently there than it does on the east coast, but the temperature and humidity are also much more moderate year round. Climate change is affecting all of those things though.

If you love NYC, you probably won’t love Seattle. If you prefer the outdoors, but still want access to city type amenities, the PNW can’t be beat in my opinion.

It’s a very personal thing I think. I personally love the PNW, but I also pretty much hate NYC if I have to be there for more than a couple of days at a time.

A lot of NYers really buy into NYC being the “greatest city in the world” and can’t fathom why someone wouldn’t want to live and work there. Different strokes for different folks.

I'm a New Yorker live on the island central the further from the city I get the more I love it so east end of long Island and no not by the snobby folk lol I love orient and greenport but been to Vancouver Montreal San Francisco Vermont Boston.... Vancouver my favourite by far friendly great weather city is paced just right but the burbs are amazing. Pretty much like all the other places better than ny. That said while I loved Montreal I wasn't to fond of the people as they were not to fond of us night and day difference from Vancouver.

Now as far as next coach I know Brindamour has made comments and stated his loyalty to Carolina but money does talk and if the rangers want him and are putting a crap ton on the table it will always make one think. You have to believe if the rangers covet him they can easily double or even triple Carolina's offer. Now the next question is do you want someone here whos first reason to come here is cash or someone who see our players and is salivating at the prospect of coaching all this young talent know we will add some veterans and grit and get to work with Drury etc. I love the idea of Rod but I also don't want him coming just cause Dolan put the most money on the table I want him coming because he wants the job.

Lastly if I'm not mistaken didn't rod once say something negative about coaching in NY? Like he would never??? I'm asking here not stating?

Definitely agree with this. City life is not for everybody. I grew up in a similar environment as Gallant did, and all things being equal, I would take Seattle over NYC 10/10 times.

The Rangers are obviously an excellent situation for a guy who would like to win, and they'll pay top dollar if they decide that they want him, but if I had to guess, I would say that the city itself may actually be a negative in his considerations.

I would say the clues make it seem obvious that they are prioritizing Brind'Amour before anything else. They must really think he can make the most out of this group. If it fails, Gallant is the fallback, but Friedman did say we should know more regarding Carolina's coaching situation this coming week. I would say that Rod has to understand too that he deserves to be paid like one of the best coaches of the last few years, since he took over. $1.8M per is a disgrace. I'd sign him for $5M and his coaches for about $1-1.5M each.

I'm curious much will Gallant make per year compared to what they paid Quinn if the Rangers sign him to be their coach?

You really don’t have to deal with the city much if you don’t want to. You practice in westchester, you can live up there too.

You really only have to deal with NYC on game days for the few minuets you’re making your way from the west side highway to 8th ave.

I saw this on twitter, THIS is the team Gallant took to the Stanley Cup Final in an expansion year.

I get that its NYC but is hockey in NYC really a big bad stressful market? Giants, Jets, Mets, Knicks, Yankees and maybe even the Nets are all more important in the hierarchy of sports in the city.
