The case for trading Igor (at some point)

Would rather move him now then have to trade him as a rental in 2024/25
That's fair, but the team might still have a good year next year. But if Garand has a solid year in the AHL, trade his ass at the draft. Get a first and a player. Not really a rental since its the offseason and the team getting him can negotiate a contract.

I wouldn't really even entertain trading Igor until you see what Garand or whomever can do at the NHL level. A prolonged long stretch in the A would be nice, but that alone isn't enough.

I wouldn't sign Igor after this contract is up though unless he literally carries this team to a cup by himself.

Adin Hill winning the Stanley Cup this year

Proving, yet again, that goaltending matters way less than the skaters dressed in front of them

All you need is someone above average and not detrimental to your salary cap
Oh god this again?

Look at all the brutal goaltending this playoffs. Had our offense shown up we would have walked right into the finals with Igor.

Sadly the main point of this thread was painfully on display in 2014 and 2015. No disrespect but Lord Stanley’s Cup has an “Aiden Hill” on it but not our very own #30.

And Vegas managed to stay relatively healthy it sounds like, whereas Bob carried an extremely battered and bruised group to the finals.
The knights had a relatively easy path to the cup, where the panthers knocked off three teams who were favored the entire time.

Good goaltending covers holes. Good teams covers mediocre goaltending.
