You silly gooses (or maybe geese?). My opinion has always been the same. The Leafs will be in the Cup final this season. I thought Vegas would also be there, and that was the team I was concerned about. Winnipeg and Dallas don't worry me. Edmonton is an interesting one. I didn't expect to see them do what they did in the last two games against Vegas. As much as it pains me to say it, I could actually see Edmonton beating the Leafs in the Cup final if they play like they did in those two games against Vegas. Draisitl became a defensive player? Never would have expected it.
you have been consistent about this post season, I'll give you that, though many of your predictions have already failed like Leafs winning this in 5 or 6 games, whichever one you said. Let's hope you're right about Leafs going to the final but somehow I doubt it.

Like I said, the two outcomes of the review were obvious. If they uphold the play on the ice, it's a dead puck. If they see that Carlo did touch the puck with his broken stick (he did), then the play should have been blown dead then and Carlo should have gotten 2 minutes. In a fair reading of the rulebook, those are the only two options.

Instead, the NHL called in and said that Carlo touching the puck with his stick was a penalty, but at the same time didn't count as touching the puck enough to get a penalty whistle. The puck then rolls under Woll, who falls on it, and apparently that doesn't count as touching the puck either, so when the Panthers shove Woll into the net, THAT counts as crossing the line and it's a goal. It requires Carlo both touching and not touching the puck at the same time on the same play.

If they're willing to break the rules so obviously to give Florida a comeback goal in a game where they were on their heels, how are the Leafs expected to win at all? What next, letting Bennett puck the puck up with his glove throw it in the net?

It's also the result of another thing that has always bugged me watchin the Leafs play; why is it when their opponent's goalie drops on the puck, it's an immediate whistle, but when the Leafs goalie drops on the puck, the refs give the other team an extra 5 or so seconds to hack at it and try to pull it back out? Do any other teams take as much goalie abuse as the Leafs do? Because I highly doubt it.
It’s not just touching the puck, you have to make a hockey play or intend to make one.

Lolol Matthews and Marner stuck together again. I mean, I know we can't do anything else because Berube hasn't tried anything else (even though Marner was amazing when Matthews went down), but still. Well, we're about to witness the end of an era I guess.

I'm trying to be positive. Our GDT for game 6 of round 2 can't be a pit of misery. These guys have two games to change the narrative. Two chances. We get behind them or we give up. We're Leaf fans, if we were gonna give up it would have happened a long time ago.

So! the BwO directive from sub-basement C of the Nigerian division, special ops division in charge of radical series swings, says go f***ing Leafs go.

Metallica speaks to our state of mind:

Well we don’t have 2 chances, lose tonight it’s over.

I looked at the stats at moneypuck and tried to figure things out.

Robertson did a great job and should play MORE,

Laughton should be benched - let Holmberg play instead

That's my advice for the upcoming game .
This is what we got him for, we paid a 1st plus, for 2 assists in 11 games and a minus 3. The wise ones will tell you he is worth every penny. Just settling in, he’ll come around..

It’s not just touching the puck, you have to make a hockey play or intend to make one.
I never thought that it would be overturned, it was going in, but Carlo definitely intended to touch the puck with his broken stick.

It's a bit of semantics, but if he intended to and there's no provision to say that playing the puck with a broken stick wouldn't stop the play, it's a penalty and whistle as soon as he touches it.

Flip side, if they never called it a penalty (I'm unsure if they did), doesn't matter much who touched what after the fact unless it's reviewable. If it is, the play it's dead when he touches I'd say.

I really don't think that's why we're where we're at though, that play is more just interesting rules wise is all.

1 year for Berube vs 10 years for the fan base. That's all that is.
Berube can do his research, he's not an idiot. Unfortunately he has no other hands to play. Do you go with something that you've seen work in the regular season, or go with something you've never done before in the biggest game of the season?

This is on him. I thought we played a different way all regular season so that we could be ready for playoffs hockey? Matthews and Marner on the same line is anti-playoff hockey. IT DOES NOT WORK. It's never worked and Berube came in thinking he could change that.

I Guarantee Matthews ain't scoring tonight if he's playing with Marner. Marner may get a point or even a lucky goal to help solidify the $13 or whatever million he's looking for this summer. If we win tonight it'll be because Matthews played good ol' Denault hockey, and either Nylander or Knies scored with some secondary scoring support.

Or Joseph goes nuts and we win 1-0 in OT.

I believe there is no legitimate scenario Matthews scores tonight. Prove me wrong Matthews, but I'm going to be betting against you tonight.

core can't get it done and they don't have depth scoring because core ate the cap same old story
Fans are being to gentle to the depth of this team. I've mentioned it before, and I'll say it again. Having 0 goals from 5/6 In Jarnkrok/Laughton/Lortentz/McMann/Holmberg is just unacceptable after 11 games played. Yes the core players need to carry for the most part, but at this point they literately have to score every single goal. That's not sustainable..

2.25m to Jarnkork
3m to Laughton (reducded to 1.5m)
1.75m for McMann (20g this reg season)
3.75m For 2goals for Domi (had 8 of this year, and he's been a complete liability on the ice)

This is not chump change. That's 10m in cap that's provided you next to nothing so far.

How big would it be to start the game off with a 1-0 lead from a goal from one of those players above? I'd say pretty big.....

Last game of watching Marner in a Leafs jersey. The core four era enda, and hopefully sanity returns in signing our future contracts

I’m ready to put aside the negativity for one last time with these guys.

Win this game and we come back to Toronto with all the momentum where we can finally break the Game 7 curse.

Let’s go fellas your legacy is on the line. Give it all you have left.

GLG!

It’s gotta be illegal to lose a game 6 on the road against a team you were up 2-0, on a day as nice as this

Matthews isn't scoring a goal tonight, period, no matter who he's playing with. He's looking towards hitting the golf course tomorrow, and pretty much has been since the playoffs started.

I felt a tinge of optimism, who do I call?
