Can anyone explain how on Tuesday Laddy gets called for goal-tender interference..... goal disallowed and no penalty.

Yesterday..... Jokinen gets called for goal-tender inference and gets 2 minutes in the box.

Did they give him the penalty because no goal was scored during the inference??

The last three or four goalie-interference decisions have all been very very questionable and unfortunately also decided against us. We can only hope that karma will strike back and we're gonna be lucky in key-situations for example against WSH ;)

About your question: I have no idea I didn't really saw the incident yesterday

Yea and nobody has mentioned that on Carolina's 2nd goal Ruutu made contact with Pavs? Pavs held his hands up to the ref but to no avail?

That didn't take long for this to degenerate again

We've won 5 in a row, haven't we?

They may be slightly ugly, but I'll take 'em. I'm having fun watching these games, even if they are a bit heart attack inducing.

PS: anyone notice how Clitsome did his best to get up after getting spun around, to ensure that the ref didn't whistle the play down due to his injury? Lots of grit to do that.

I thought the Jets won 5 in a row as well.

I'm not that concerned about the last two games and the Jets giving up leads. This is the time of the season where things get crazy. You're pretty much either up against teams who have nothing to lose or teams who have everything to lose. Either one can give you a tough time. I mean sure, maybe the Jets didn't do a good enough job clamping down on the lead, but at the same time if they had played more defensively and still given up the lead we'd be all over them for going into a defensive shell. I think they were probably trying not to let up on the Canes - to keep pressuring - and the canes just took advantage of a couple opportunities. I was certainly not happy when they tied it up, but I don't see this as a sign the Jets are about to go into a death spiral...

that's not to say they won't of course, lol. But I think they are playing a much more edgy, desperate game right now...

Basically my understanding is that the assessment of a penalty depends on the intent of the interference. IE: accidental interference is not a penalty, but intentional interference is. Then again maybe the refs just toss a coin. :help:

If you can figure this out, let us know....

Exciting win, heinous 3rd.

I thought Hainsey and Bogo struggled a bit tonight, served up some pretty big pizzas (even though 44 poked home a beauty).

Puck also seemed to really be bouncing around which doesn't help. Not sure I like Hainsey and Bogosian together so much. They don't really seem to have mojo.

Nice that we can now make the playoffs as long as we take care of business. Hoping that Ottawa can beat the Caps in regulation again, that would be super helpful.

I didn't want to say anything negative after an important win, but I have been really unimpressed by Hainsey's play over the past several games. Bogo has also struggled a bit with the puck in his own zone.

Postma has impressed me with his efficient play over the past few games.

Clitsome is the epitome of irrational confidence. He plays a dangerous game taking chances, which might be why Noel took him away from Buff.

Noel seemed really ticked at Buff last night after the game, probably because of his late game foray into the corner in the O-zone and then getting turned around on Semin's late tying goal. But I think that Buff showed why he is such a dominant force. If he's playing with a really good D partner he can just take over games. He was pounding guys last night.

I haven't seen the advanced stats but Burmi and his line again seemed to tilt the ice in the right direction. Noel seemed to put them out there at key times when the Jets looked to be in trouble. I think he'll figure out how to score more, and the assists will come when he is playing with more offensively proficient line mates.

You can see Pavs flash a little grin from under his mask right before they cut away from him for the replay. Perhaps he just saw the save on the jumbotron.

Or he was looking at a Carolina player.

"Hi, I'm Ondrej Pavelec, and I made my last big save AGAINST YOU!"

Also, in some senses, this trade enstrom stuff is silly, but in a sense, it also isn't?

I don't know. Maybe he shouldn't play with Buff. Clitty Buff, Enstrom Hainsey next season?

Get rid of Toby Scrubstrom already, he's nothing but a scrub.

And much like the wildly popular single by TLC, I don't want no scrubs, a scrub is a guy that can't get no love from me, hangin' out the passenger side of his best friends ride, tried to holler at me.

Enough said I think.

Lets just let Toby take all the time he needs to get healed until the Jets make the play-offs!;)

Agree on Clitsome. He is now playing at a different, higher level. Played the most minutes on D last night. He deserves legit top 4, long term consideration. Also Wheeler is now on a higher level. He's a very good NHL power forward. Seeing new dimensions to his game. Ladd MVP.
Buff meh game. Good on the goal, average otherwise IMO.

What a nail biter at the end! One game back of Washington & the Toronto Maple Laffs are sliding!!! I would LOVE to see the Laffs slide all the way out of the playoffs!!!!

I see this all the time from Pavs. I really think he gets a huge kick out of making those circus saves and getting that reaction from the fans. I mean I'm sure all the players enjoy making huge plays and getting a fan reaction, but Pavs actually lets his enjoyment show on his face...

I really like those little moments of "damn, that was good" from our players when they show them. I think that kind of reserved confidence that bubbles to the surface with a little "Man, I'm on fire" kinda smile is a good sign when you see it from a player in a game.

The contact was after the puck went in the net.

When Clitsome went down on the Wheeler goal, I thought he had blown out his knee.

yeah, I like to think there's sort of a Pavlovian ("Pavlecian?" Huh? Huh? :yo: ) response at play there. Make a great play, get a great reward. Try and make more and more great plays in order to get more and more great rewards... :)

A lot has been said about Buff's play on the last Hurricane goal. Not the greatest play in not tying up Semin in front, and the pinch was a little questionable, but I'm wondering if Buff thought he could just tie up the puck in the Canes end and eat up a lot of clock.

Anyway, that being said, I thought Buff had an excellent game. If we're going to obsess over the negative, let's do it for the positive. Many of us have said, "man, if Buff started to hit and throw his weight around he would become an even bigger force on D." Well that time was last night. That's the Buff that I want to see. Separating the man from the puck, ending Carolina entries into the zone by standing a guy up, and making his presence felt.

A lot of Jets had good games last night as well, but Buff really stood out to me because that is what I have been wishing he would do for a long time.

The difference between competing confident and competing scared is so immense, in my experience. I've run relays at national championships with the attitude of "just stay in the race " and I've run with "this is my track, get out of my way" and it's the difference between seventh and a bronze and silver medal. I've given guys that same grin five seconds before a race. It's a very "in the zone" look, in my opinion.

When you know you're good, and it gets you motivated to BE that good, it's incredible. The trick is using that confidence to motivate you to be epic instead of just good, rather than to be complacent.

If I had a dollar for every time I heard on the radio EXPLOSIVE HIT FROM DUSTIN BYFUGLIEN I would have enough money for a slurpee during every game for the rest of the year.

It's like he finally realized the physics of collisions, and how much they favor him. I like that, and I hope he doesn't forget. ;)

Yeah, IMO, except for not tying up Semin's stick (insert joke here), it was the best game I've seen Buff play in a long time. He was dominant.

What a nailbighter of a game. The Jets just can't make things easy, can they? A huge win, especially with the Caps losing in regulation. Only 4 more wins to go!

It's nice to see that Pavs has been given the day off as the Jets' default whipping boy around here.

These were the numbers of a goalie last night

21 - 24 3 - 3 0 - 0 24 - 27 .889 0 61:16

What these facts tell me is he didnt have a good game at all and he almost cost his team the game.

Facts don't lie
Pavelec was bad last night
