Speculation: The Bruins and Jeremy Swayman are far apart in contract term (length) and dollar amount.

If what we saw yesterday in the media is ANY indication of how the Bruins have approached this contract negotiation with their expected #1 netminder, you can call it anything you want, but I will still call it a f***ing circus for what he did. Total clown show.
This was a mess far earlier than yesterday. It seems to be a common trend with Lewis Gross clients.

$7.8Million for 8 years is actually very fair for a guy that hasn't proven he's able to handle the workload of a true number 1... yet.
Indeed...If this is all legit and the Swayman camp turned that offer down - well then he'll likely find himself on a team not of his preferred choice and probably not at the aav/term he wants.

Like in the past, I'm starting to wonder if Sway is even aware of what the Bs are offering.

No, they absolutely are. They'll take the 4 firsts if someone wants to throw way too much money Sway's way. Gets rid of their headache and loads up on future picks all for a goalie with barely a season's worth of games in his career.
wut?

no one wants Swayman at the cost of 4 unprotected 1sts so how are they begging for an O.S by offering him fair money exactly?

That's the point. No one will offer sheet him for what he thinks he's worth, and if he signs an offer sheet considerably less than the bruins will just match. Even if someone signs him in that 9.1-11 range and the Bruins don't match, they'll take 2 firsts, a second and a third. No team will do this but Neely and co would love if they did.

I can see an offersheet at a 1st 2nd and 3rd compensation.
Depends on where the number is. If it's closer to the high-end (9) then Bruins will let him go. If it's closer to the 7 then the Bruins will match. Let him go out, find his worth and let other teams do the heavy lifting.

8.5 for 3 years.

Sets Swayman up for life and only buys 1 UFA year.

If you are the Bruins what do you do.

Let's say Utah does this.

At this time in the year it's tough to offer sheet. Who would have the Cap?
Oh, it isn't plausible at all. Technically possible, but you're right, who has the space? Columbus, Calgary, Anaheim, San Jose, Utah and maybe Buffalo and Chicago. I can't see any other teams being able to make room for an offer sheet. And which of those teams are actually in serious need of a starting goalie, and would want to give up multiple years of first round picks? None. But its still plausible.

Swayman's agent should be out there begging for an offersheet but i doubt they see anything they like. No win situation. Should have just went to arbitration.

It would be fun and mightily interesting if one of those teams stepped up and put an offer in.

are they? the likelihood of someone offer sheeting more money than the rumored money is very, very, very low. that would be 12.5 million aav compensation territo
A team can offer sheet Swayman at $9,161,833 for 2 years, with compensation being a 1st, a 2nd and 3rd. This would essentially screw Bostons CAP if they matched and would walk him straight into being a UFA in 2 years; so no way they match. Neely does not hold all the cards.

The team giving up a 1st+2nd and 9m per also loses swayman to free agency in 2 years though.

Not necessarily - look at the offer sheet for Kotkaniemi. It was high for two years and then Carolina signed him to a long term extension at a lower AAV within a year.
