I’d rather have SwaymanGenuine question here, do bruins fans feel like their team kept the wrong goalie or is it too early to tell?
You think that star athletes should get what they are worth, nut if ownership does not feel he is worth that, than the star athlete has a decision to make, finish business school and run a business and make decisions that are good for the company or just give employees what they think they are worth. or he can sit out the next two years when the rules will allow him to move on.Except the underlying issue is the same in both cases. The individual party does not believe they are being offered what they are worth from the company.
A star athlete is not your average joe. Trying to think what you would do in their situation is silly because if you were in that position your entire life leading up to that point would be completely different from where it is right now.
Maybe he wants to ensure his family is set up for multiple generations. An extra 10m would go a long way to accomplish this.

Or hes just simply using his leverage and trying to negotiate a higher pay than what he is being offered. Youve never once negotiated your salary with an employer before? You think that star athletes should get what they are worth, nut if ownership does not feel he is worth that, than the star athlete has a decision to make, finish business school and run a business and make decisions that are good for the company or just give employees what they think they are worth. or he can sit out the next two years when the rules will allow him to move on.
On December 1, he has no leverage, in two years he gains leverage, those are rules in place, but I guess he thinks the rules are different for him.Or hes just simply using his leverage and trying to negotiate a higher pay than what he is being offered. I'm sure the Bruins would be happy to punt an entire season or 2On December 1, he has no leverage, in two years he gains leverage, those are rules in place, but I guess he thinks the rules are different for him.
The entire future of the franchise does not rest on the shoulders of a 25yr old goalie who has never started more than 44 games, as much as Swayman wants to think it does.I'm sure the Bruins would be happy to punt an entire season or 2
No it doesnt, but theyre not going to come anywhere close to contending without him. Hence the punting away a year or two.The entire future of the franchise does not rest on the shoulders of a 25yr old goalie who has never started more than 44 games, as much as Swayman wants to think it does.
In terms of performance and upside value, absolutely, without question whether that is with or without a new contract in Boston.Genuine question here, do bruins fans feel like their team kept the wrong goalie or is it too early to tell?
The goalie with the:Will be hilarious to see you try and talk your way out of this one after this season. Woll > Swayman
They knew it was going up, but to your point, nobody could point and definitely say we're looking at 9+ in the 2 years. It's still not an easy comparable other than looking at what a player signed for and where that player sits in a top ranking list.Everyone knew the cap was going to be going up when Sorokin signed the deal because the COVID payoff was coming. No one knew how much, but back of the napkin math wasn't far off.
And Swayman isn’t going to punt a year or two of NHL games and salary away eitherNo it doesnt, but theyre not going to come anywhere close to contending without him. Hence the punting away a year or two.

Centers are worth more. The center making more money by position was a made up thing from Dubas, If a winger starts scoring 60 goals and placing in the top ten in points they get just as much as any position on the ice.

If he were to accept the reported $7.8 aav for 8 seasons - that would place him as the 5th highest paid active goalie (not counting Carey Price)…And he’s got a lot of catching up to do regarding games played when compared with his peers.Sure, he can keep asking for that and he can keep sitting out. Boston offered him a very fair deal. Sign it and join your teammates, nutjob.
Exactly its a game of chicken, and Swayman is clearly doing everything in his power to extract as much as he possibly can from the Bruins which is within his right to do so.And Swayman isn’t going to punt a year or two of NHL games and salary away either
One of them will end up accepting the other offer, or he’ll be traded
Well, put there are no other positions that need upgrading...... said sarcasticallyThe entire future of the franchise does not rest on the shoulders of a 25yr old goalie who has never started more than 44 games, as much as Swayman wants to think it does.
You're actually arguing my point.Except the underlying issue is the same in both cases. The individual party does not believe they are being offered what they are worth from the company.

Talent and potential wise, swayman was the obvious choice .Genuine question here, do bruins fans feel like their team kept the wrong goalie or is it too early to tell?
That whole RFA v UFA thing though. If Shesterkin signs for 12.0 Million over 8 years what do you think that makes Swayman worth to the Bruins? I see this as the "comp" as it is a current negotiation. Recently, top goalies have probably been underpaid in relation to their importance to the team. Especially in the playoffs.
