1) call and let them know what time you can get there and they will hold the start of the game. In all seriousness, if you go straight from the train to your seat, it should take you no more than 20 minutes. If you want to walk around a bit, get some food, then you'll need more time.

2) The Jackie Robinson Rotunda is ok, but you need about 2 1/2 minutes. As far as the area, there aren't any bars or restaurants within walking distance to the stadium, except for McFadden's which is at the stadium. Went there last year, beer was warm and flat. The only food worth eating in the stadium, imo, is shake shack, but the line for that place is long and slow. VERY slow. I'd suggest eating before you get on the train and plan to eat after the game.

3) $8 and up, like any other stadium.

4) 7 train is the cheapest, LIRR will be less crowded and more comfortable.

you must be a Yankee fan. Citi Field is awesome.

No, I am a mets fan. The stadium is great, was commenting about the area, the one bar/restaurant at the stadium, and the very over-rated concessions. Well, except for shake shack.

I was at the Mets game last night, off and on rain and barely 10,000 people in the stands - yet there was a full 2 inning wait at the shake shack as usual lol. I don't understand why they don't just mass produce those burgers and put them on a grab and go rack, make people put their order in on a kiosk or smartphone. They would sell twice as much

As for the area, it's going to be a mega-mall / condo village starting about 2015:

They have been talking about developing that area for about 7 million years. I will believe it when I see it. Besides, a mall and shopping plaza will likely be just a bunch of chain restaurants. No thanks. Now, if they want to try to make it like Wrigleyville, then I would be excited.

Haven't you figured it out by now--that's been the vision for NYC for the last 20+ years.

Not sure if this is the right place...but I have two US Open tickets to both the day session and night session on Wednesday. I am trying to sell one or the other (preferably the night session), and am not looking for anything above face value.

Ticketmaster is down right now, I will edit this post once it's back up and give details about the seats/prices. Please PM me if you are interested.

The day tickets are for Arthur Ashe (and the grounds)...section 315, row x, seats 14 and 15. With fees, the tickets were $37 each.

Night session...section 308, row v, seats 17 and 18. $86 per ticket.

Again, these are for Wednesday (tomorrow). Please let me know if you're interested! Prices are negotiable!

Anyone been to Bareburger? They are opening their first place outside of the NY area in Columbus, OH this winter and I've read nothing but great reviews of their burgers and salads.

Pretty much what you'd expect it to be. Quality burgers and excellent shakes (though I prefer Shake Shack, myself).

good burger, nothing out of the ordinary. I'm sure you can get the same at any number of local places

Shake shack is pretty hard to beat, but it could be done if restaurants put in the effort. Danny Meyer's secret isn't much of a secret at all. All their meat is fresh, never frozen, and they make the patties on site with a meat grinder. They don't put in any of the garbage parts of the beef and they add the right mixture & types of fat & spices in the patty and add fresh garnishes and a secret sauce anyone could come up with

Don't care. As long as there are bars and stuff--places to hang out before/after the game--then I'd be satisfied. Really, *anything* is an improvement. Doesn't need to be a mini-Manhattan.

Just dropping in to say we're thinking about you guys today.
Lots of flags flying around down here in TN.

Holy your city is expensive to stay in.

Anyway flying from Edmonton on a business training trip but staying for the weekend 27-29. Any areas to recommend to stay and sites?

My buddy said midtown area is good

All the good hotels at the most reasonable rates (for a big US city) are in Long Island City, Queens. One or two stops from midtown on the N/Q,E/M/R trains or 3 stops from Grand Central on the 7 train. That's your best bet right there.

I used to work in LIC 5-10 years ago. It's a great location in the sense that it's close to midtown but I'm not sure I'd recommend staying in that location. When I was there it was kind of seedy.

Queensboro plaza has an old reputation from when they would drop off the prisoners from Rikers there with a token when they were released. The whole area has massively changed in the past decade. It's luxury condos springing up all over the place. It's still fairly industrial but there are no longer any seedy people whatsoever to speak of
