Loving FHM 6. Decided to do a historical simulation since 1926-1927 as, of course, the NY Rangers. Now on 1947-48, with 11 consecutive cups. Drafted Howe and Richard. Going after Jacques Plante at the next draft. :naughty::laugh:
Fun update: all-time leading scorer as of 1955 is Max Bentley (1200 points — all as a NY a Ranger). Gordie Howe has essentially been a bust (decent third liner with a few 20-goal seasons). Richard, despite having an injury plagued career, has managed five 40-goal season and a 50-goal season. Sawchuk and Plante are my goalies and routinely posting 930-940 S%.

Other notable draft selections and career Rangers:
Beliveau
Bathgate
Henri Richard
Red Kelly
Pierre Pilote
Geoffrion
Doug Harvey
Quackenbush
Tedd Lindsay

For all the souls fans out there, I got Mortal Shell a few days ago and it's the best non-FromSoft soulsy type game I've played so far. The combat is a little more simplistic, and I wish there was more stuff (it's only a $30 game so I'm not really complaining too much), but it absolutely nails the atmosphere and feel

I may need to check this out.

Have you played Code Vein? That game frustrated me to no end (even more so than Bloodborne, which was hard and totally unfair at times.)

I've been kind of meaning to but there's always something that has kept me from buying and playing Code Vein. To be honest the closest thing to a souls-like that I've played that wasn't an actual FromSoft game was Hollow Knight (which I think is great but still haven't finished because it's also frustrating and sometimes putting it down for a day or two turns into putting it down for a few months). Mortal Shell has been fun, but it really feels like diet Dark Souls because there's way less depth to the combat and it's not very long at all

NHL-21 Beta thus far:

EA has been shafting hockey fans for 5 years now. Embarrassing that the NHL lets them keep stamping out the same thing year after year.
Same with Madden, which I haven’t purchased since ‘12? ‘13?

Madden 21 has a 0.4/10 score lol. NFLdropEA is now starting to trend on Twitter too.

And here I was fixing to get it. Last one I got was like..'18 I think? Whichever the last one was, I remember being like "This is exactly like the last one.."

In an unrelated note, an old 90s RPG made by ex-Square employees called moon was translated and released on Switch last week and despite only being like 30 minutes in, this game is an absolute gem so far. The opening bit is a riff on stereotypical RPG tropes (hero comes to save the land from a big baddy, kills everything and ransacks every townsperson's home without a second thought) and you play the part of rebuilding the world after the fact. With the long weekend I really want to put some extended time into this one.

I freely admit that my interest in NHL 21 is entirely based on the Rangers collection of prospects --- especially if they go a route at the draft that features players who are already in the game.

Couple that with a few guys turning pro this season, and most of the top kids will be there and within the Rangers organization.

Frostbite is overrated shit imo.
I have trouble thinking of any redeeming qualities from any recent madden games.

nhl games I can sit down and maybe get a few hours of fun out of when the game isn’t being total trash. But madden is just next level trash, the scripted plays ruin the game. The gameplay of a game like All Pro 2k7 far, far exceeds Madden, and that’s just f***ing ridiculous. A 13 year old sports game should not be the standard. They make a new game every year and progressively make it worse.

Spot on. 2K always tried to create a better playing games that focused on mechanics.

EA focused on making better looking games. Now that 2K has been out of the picture, EA’s been in autopilot mode and the results are embarrassing.

This is why I don't root for one brand over another (Ford vs. Chevy, Xbox vs. Playstation, etc.).

At the end of the day, as a consumer, I want competition. Competition results in the better product and forces companies to bring their "A" game.

When you remove that factor, people inherently get comfortable and the product doesn't evolve.

Exactly why I'd hope someone would make another NHL game, but this current game does not sell well enough for another studio to put forth the resources to make one.

EA and 2K making games at the same time brought us 6v6 user controlled hockey. 2K wasn't doing well before that, but I believe this was the nail in the coffin. You could play with your friends, online, controlling your own player.

As for the Closed Technical Test, it's been solid. I cannot say this is a copy of the previous game. The changes between 20 and 21 are there, and they are substantial enough. I was buying the game regardless, but it feel much less like a minor update to the old game. Not sure how offline will feel since there is no mode on this that is offline with full teams, so I'd have to see how that goes when the game is out.

Not sure how many PC gamers there are around here but the 30 series cards from Nvidia look insane. According to Nvidia the 3070 matches the performance of the 2080Ti at ~40% of the price. Ridiculous.

Built a brand new rig last July and bought a 2070 Super for $550 when they were released. I don't regret it at all, but damn these new cards are juicy. Good news for anybody with a 1070 or 1080 that skipped the 2k series and held out on upgrading. I'll tell you what though, it wasn't easy getting this 2070 Super last summer. Had to watch sites like a hawk for inventory to become available as they would sell out in minutes. I don't think it's going to be easy for anyone to snag these cards upon release. Everyone will be looking to buy one (including of course the bitcoin miners and the scalpers) and with the pandemic and all probably affecting production I expect there to be quite a shortage.

Tony Hawk 1+2 remaster is beyond solid. Played the tutorial last night while waiting for it to download. It is an absolute BLAST.
I'm so happy with how it's turned out so far, and I love the slightly new tweaks they've made to make it a bit more modern.

Re: NHL21, the technical test was basically the same exact game as 20, and I honestly couldn't tell you what's changed other than having the option to do the lacrosse goal. The only good thing is that the lacrosse goal isn't easy to spam, which will hopefully carry over into EASHL. If it ends up being like the one-handed deke, then the online portion of the game will be broken.

I built my computer maybe a year or 2 ago and just realized I have a 1050 Ti..could probably do with a slight update. I just finished up Doom Eternal the other night and the ending cutscene was not pretty. Ultra laggy with all the particle effects.
