Picked up No Man's Sky last week and I gotta say, for all the (probably warranted) flak that the developers got for the state of the game when it first launched..I'm absolutely obsessed with this iteration. You get to fly around space, identify minerals/flora/fauna on any damn planet you can see, mine various components, sell goods/artifacts, build up a sweet home base, and play mechanic when fixing up broken down ships you can find abandoned on planets. This is the exact kind of chilled out low-stress game I've always wanted to have to counterbalance playing CSGO/Rocket League that need your constant attention.

I don't know if it's still 50% off on Steam, but for anyone who likes space exploration that you can do at your own pace and rarely have to worry about dying (I'd imagine depending on difficulty - I selected less hardcore), check it out.

Yeah No Man's Sky looked interesting to me at first but all the negative reviews turned me off from it and I never bought it. But I've been reading over the last year or so about improvements and changes they made so I might get it now. Sounds like the developer really tried to make things right.

Right now though I'm waiting for NHL 20, Link's Awakening remake for Switch and Death Stranding in November. I haven't bought a game since Resident Evil 2.

I'm calling shenanigans on the NHL 20 ratings. How on earth is Zibanejad a 85, when players like Teuvarainen, JAM, Lindholm, Guentzel, and f***ing Evgeny Dadanov are all rated higher? Looks like I'll be editing a lot of stats again.

This sounds pretty awesome to me. Is the PS4 version updated like this?

They obviously failed at math. I mean 81>82, right?

Winning teams high performers get a boost (confirmation bias- must be sooooo good to have affected his teams winning outcomes), and losing teams high performers get a negative bump. And there's probably something to that somewhat too. But 85 overall for a 74 point player who is also defensively responsible? Injury prone in the past, sure, but that's a tough rating to swallow for sure.

I believe so. The only things I can find when googling are results saying that a physical copy of No Man's Sky is being released on 9/10, but I'd imagine you can buy the digital copy right now with all of the updates.

The craziest thing to me about this game is just the sheer size of everything. Planets are enormous and it could take you, quite literally, multiple real-world hours to run on foot to your next location (luckily you can also just hop in your ship and fly there in a minute or two). On top of that, there are god knows how many semi-secret subterranean cave systems to poke around in when you can get your "terra-forming" tool running which allows you to either mine into the ground or build up ground however you want. And outer space feels unending. The game does a fantastic job of making you feel like you're actually a being exploring the expanse of space and these planets. Looking at the overall space map is just..you can go to ANY galaxy/planet system. And it looks like there are hundreds and hundreds of thousands systems. There are like planet archetypes (radiation, extreme cold/heat; some have more hostile life, some are devoid of water, etc) so I'd imagine they're randomly generated somehow.

So far I've been playing more as a cataloger, just going from planet to planet and identifying everything I can and learning as many words of the various race's languages that I can. I stumbled across a random, big ass cargo ship that is now my personal mission to fix up until it's 100%. Is it worth it? Probably not, but it's cool as f*** to me that I'm able to do that. You can also undoubtedly play more as a space pirate and outfit your ship to have stronger cannons and whatnot. Space combat (which is also a thing) is alright and I don't find it to be that annoying.

I think my Xbox 1 died. Do I hold out for a next gen console or suck it up and buy a new one now? I've regretted not getting a ps4 (the show) but don't want to rebuy my existing games either.

Next gen comes out Nov 2020 so if you can wait a little over a year then you might as well. Or look around for a cheap replacement and trade it in next year.

These :eek::eek::eek::eek: changed that from the 19 rating! I saw a video of some dude drafting in NHL 19; Hughes was 81 and Kakko 82. There is no reason except propaganda.

I'm really itching to buy a PS4 (PC master race though) and NHL 20 or 19. I will ask which one is better in couple of months. (They had NHL 19 for 11€ in the PS-Store, which seemed like a major bargain to me.)

I was playing a BAP game (before xb1 died) and Hank was on the yotes but panarin and kakko were on the rangers. Never saw what his rating was.

Yeah, agreed. They seem like they've watered down a lot of players, which will probably get fixed in a roster patch.

How Mika didn't get a boost from last season after posting a 74 point season is another story, but at least they've added a lot more to the foundation they laid down for 19.

But Vanilla+TBC WoW was something different.

It was like 94, it was indescribable.

I'm afraid that WoW:Classic is 2014.

I can't really say, I never played WoW. But I played FFXI back in the day and this retro server is scratching an itch i've had for a long time. Its unofficial though, and I know WoW Classic is official, so idk what its going to be exactly.

There's been a ton of vanilla WoW private servers going strong for years. I've been looking forward to classic and haven't been this excited for a game since I was a teenager. Only 1.5 hrs to go!

I also played FFXI, too much lol, years ago. I tried Nasomi but it's got alot of annoying 'features'. You should try Eden, it's much better. ;)

I feel you.

I wasn't knocking FF either.

What i'm saying is a good portion of the yearning for WoW:Classic had more to do with it hitting the tipping point popularity wise as well as being something no one had see yet in regard to overall polish for the time.

Also, this was also a time where Blizzard was big, but not nearly as huge as it is now.

Not sure how they do it now, but back in the earlier years of the franchise they consulted with actual NHL GMs. For a few years, Neil Smith was the primary consultant.
