II would do if the trade was for expendable players. His contract is up after this season so they could see what happens and decide whether to extend him. Hughes knows him so if they were willing to trade for him there is nothing wrong with his character. Now presumably they wouldn't be interested unless they think he will play a complete game.

I can only begin to imagine how much a Laine-Zegras-Demidov line would get absolutely caved in defensively. Awful fit and not the right player for this team

Zegras didn't have that "bounceback" season, makes 5.75 with one year left, and then needs a QO of 5.75. He's also UFA eligible in 2 years.

I'd be willing to bet the 22 year old 6'3 RD prospect retained value better than the overpaid winger/center with two years of overpaid control.

At some point pro scouting seriously needs to be questioned. Dach/Newhook/Zegras all suck as top 6 forwards and bring nothing useful in a bottom 6 role.

Yeah, it was reported last summer actually. They nixed the deal because Demidov was still available at 5. Demidov and Zegras fill the same role so they don't need both.

He was injured for part of the season and probably wasn't used properly. Ducks haven't had a real coach since he was drafted. He should be more of a last resort though because they should be looking for power forward types.

My mistake, I assumed because this is a Zegras thread that it was relevant here.

He was injured for part of the season and probably wasn't used properly. Ducks haven't had a real coach since he was drafted. He should be more of a last resort though because they should be looking for power forward types.

Don't get me wrong, I frankly think Zegras is a more interesting acquisition target than Rossi. But two injury filled seasons for a guy who has struggled when healthy for a guy already getting paid and with limited team control affects trade value a lot (see Dach, Kirby).

Dach was far from soft in passed years. He came back from a serious injury. When you are maybe one injury from the league, it must get to your head at one point
