I always forget 1 or two people, DR for sure.I add KD to that list.
And DR is on my list too.
Kraft Dinner though? I’m not so sure

Wouldn’t it be something if HuGo were able to land both Celebrini & Zegras…
Even worse! If they're on the same team and both chase the puck, their poor center will have to play 80% of the game for them. Lord knows that poor Suzuki and Slaf have had to do 110% of the hard work on their line for the last ~20 or so games. You trade anything but:
CC
NS
JS
KG
this years 1st
next year top9 protected.
If Montreal has proper lines and support then who's going to stop them when they find NHL chemistry?
So what your saying is that we should trade Anderson for him straight up?Even worse! If they're on the same team and both chase the puck, their poor center will have to play 80% of the game for them. If Zegras and Caufield were split up, they will each be a drag on their line. Good luck winning with two lines containing a specialist ~60 point winger who genuinely achieves nothing in either zone apart from their points.
I'm not a fan a Zegras, but Anderson is way worse. A sub 40 point/~20 goal scorer who has scored over 20 goals twice in his career and had 40+ points once. All that added to the fact that Anderson hasn't played like he's cared for a few years and I'd happily watch Zegras be a useless ~60 point guy over Anderson's useless ~30 points. So what your saying is that we should trade Anderson for him straight up?
I understand that you don't want to consider the scenario that the relationship between managemrnt and Zegras has soured, but there are a lot of red flags. Multiple media sources are talking about it. The team and player signed a short term deal. I think you are putting your head in the sand a bit here. It is not comparable to the Caufield situation at all, and it makes their value different. WIth all the media attention around this market, there hasn't been a peep about any negative relationship with Caufield, and we signed him easily to a long term deal. You at least need to acknowledge the possibility here. If you guys trade Zegras, he will be the best piece in the trade, no question, and a GM like Hughes is not going to overpay.
Does your opinion change if I were to tell you that in the 20 years (2009-2019 ), picks 4-7 have about a 50/50 chance of becoming a top 6 player ? And Zegras was certainly putting up top 6 production.Whoever we pick with our top 7 pick will be better than Zegras.
Bookmark me if you want.

I have no problem with his Michigan plays and I actually want flashy players on the team. However, soft perimeter guys who avoid contact are a no. I just don't know much about him but from what I do know, I'd rather keep our pick.
Done
It'll only happen if we pick 1st OA imho.
I was good with the Newhook trade for that reason. We gave up about a 20-25% chance of getting a top 6 player with those picks. My view is the odds are better than 25% Newhook establishes himself as a top 6 player.I know what the odds are (but thank you for bringing it up, as I think the Newhook trade gets bashed too often because people overrate picks and don't understand how hard it is to get an effective NHLer with a late 1st or a 2nd round pick) but I am a draft junky and I think all the forward options when we are picking top 7 project as better players than Zegras.
I don't have problems with flashy plays either, I quite like them, though I think the michigan is very overrated as most kids in my draft league could pull it off now. But it's just the lack of inside drive, his bad season this year, he feels Drouin-ish to me in that I think you have to feed him everything to get his production right and I have a bias against that.
Nah.. Lindstrom at his size, scoring ability, and his athletic profile may not produce as high as Zegras (though I think that he will) but he will be a far more effective and reliable player in the grand scheme of winning.
Demidov is a far more talented and highly touted prospect than Zegras ever was.
Then you get into that next tier, if we are gonna have a soft perimeter player, I'd rather it be a guy like Eiserman who can score 40 a year. Or if we want the slight build playmaker, I'd prefer Catton who has a far better defensive game and actually works to get inside to score.
good dream but Celebrini is a just that... love you hope... but ....No need to get Zegras if we get Celebrini and we shouldn't trade Guhle/Reinbacher, which is what it would take to get Zegras
Caufield - Suzuki - Slaf
Roy/Newhook - Celebrini - Dach
is an awesome top 6
Who are your top 10, in tiers where applicable ? And does Zegras come in ahead of anyone in that top 10 ?I know what the odds are (but thank you for bringing it up, as I think the Newhook trade gets bashed too often because people overrate picks and don't understand how hard it is to get an effective NHLer with a late 1st or a 2nd round pick) but I am a draft junky and I think all the forward options when we are picking top 7 project as better players than Zegras.

Zegras sucks man.Assuming that Celebrini, Demidov, Lindstrom and Levshunov are all off the board by the time we pick then I'd be open to moving our pick to Anahiem for Zegras if they're interested in grabbing a defenseman.
None of the forwards left at that point seem like game breakers to me, and I don't see any of them being much better than Zegras even if they hit their ceilings.
I'm not sold on Silayev either and Parekh seems like too much of a gamble if we're picking top 7.
Sure he has some holes in his game, but we'd be getting a proven NHLer that we know can play in the top 6, is capable of putting up 60+ points, can play wing, can fill in as a 2C if Dach goes out long term, etc... Obviously it'd be nice if he was bigger and more physical, but if he was then there's no chance Anaheim would be trading him.Zegras sucks man.
no that's an incredibly soft top 6 that will be riddled with injuries. Roy, Newhook , Nick, Cole.. (we aren't getting Celebrini) grab one of the 6'4 top 4 picks this year and get some sandpaper / skill to go along with these skilled smaller players. We don't know if Dach can even stay healthy at this point. No need to get Zegras if we get Celebrini and we shouldn't trade Guhle/Reinbacher, which is what it would take to get Zegras
Caufield - Suzuki - Slaf

Catton reminds me so much of Beck , doesn't blow me away at all. Could be a nice 3-4 guy, if it all pans out.Sure he has some holes in his game, but we'd be getting a proven NHLer that we know can play in the top 6, is capable of putting up 60+ points, can play wing, can fill in as a 2C if Dach goes out long term, etc... When I look at guys like Catton/Helenius I don't see them having much more upside than Zegras even if they hit their ceilings.
A 50 goal scorer in junior remnds you of Beck???no that's an incredibly soft top 6 that will be riddled with injuries. Roy, Newhook , Nick, Cole.. Jist reminds me of the way he plays. Not a bad thing I really like BeckA 50 goal scorer in junior remnds you of Beck???
And in the draft Lindstrom may be a glass body unable to play a power game without getting hurt.
Jist reminds me of the way he plays. Not a bad thing I really like Beck
Catton and Beck are very different players with very different play styles. Catton is significantly more skilled and creative whereas Beck is more physical and defensive minded.
I like both of them but they are not alike at all.
Land? Majority voted Calgary first and MesarSo where did we land on this?
