I remember when early in the season our xGF was a lot higher than xGA people kept saying how it will even out because of our Corsi. Looks like that's not the case with Minnesota.

Minnesota isn't a bad team though.

Their corsi only sucks because they play glorified #4 Ryan Suter half the game.

Some might argue that we're not a bad team either and our Corsi only sucks because of Girardi having top pairing minutes.

Girardi has been hurt and it still sucks.

Staal and McDonagh deserve blame as well and the coaching is a huge issue.

How is Ryan Suter a glorified #4?

He's s Girardi-level possession player with more offense

Uh, among Wild dmen, he's second highest CF%rel, GA60, GF%, xGA60, xGF%, SCA60, and first in SCF%, so maybe we just see a different thing on the ice?

Is he overpaid? Yeah, Minnesota went nuts when Parise and Suter were free agents, but saying he's a glorified #4 just doesn't really make sense to me. Guess we'll just agree to disagree

Jesus, you're right. Suter was a 45% possession player in mid-January. He's almost at 50% now.

The **** is going on over there?

Not very similar at all. Also, the Rangers problems extend farther than Girardi, who obviously is a huge negative but the Rangers are still a big negative even without him.

Well there goes the Suter theory. perhaps Corsi alone is not always an effective metric to predict sustainable success...

Based on these, the Rangers are **** on their right side defense in front of the net. What a surprise.

Still don't see the Wild going far in the playoffs getting outshot every night.

When you look at the personnel on rhd it's no surprise that the action is skewed to that side but even with Girardi off the ice, the high danger area in front of the net is wide open.

The Rangers net-front defense will always be crap under AV if we're trying to pressure guys who are already covered behind the net and abandoning the slot. It happens instantaneously, but we go from a high% defensive play (in that situation of a guy with no options behind the net) to a low% defensive play by leaving a guy uncovered in the slot to get off a one timer.

Is it any surprise that our xGA is skyrocketing? We weren't doing this **** through November and early December. Only problem is that's also when Hank was struggling mightily. We went from actual good defensive hockey and bad goaltending to bad defensive hockey and good goaltending.

Also if u look at suters chart, obviously it's all perimeter but it's all on the other side of his ice which indicates that Spurgeon and/or the right winger(s) aren't suppressing shots very well. Interesting. I'll definitely pay closer attention next time I watch them play.

Also, some may disagree, but Suter clearly passes the eye test to me.

Wasn't 2010/11 the year of Staal-Girrardi top pairing? Beautiful....if you play for not the Rangers. it's literally like a funnell/red carpet to the net

It was also the year only Staal, Girardi, Sauer (rookie) and Eminger played more than 60 games. D was a mess that year. Next highest was Gilroy :(

Brutal. Wasn't a 50 point Dubinsky the leading scorer on that team too? Sometimes you forget how much Henrik carried this franchise

Yup, 54 pts with Gabby, Step and Cally in the high 40s.
The 08-09, 09-10 and 10-11 rangers were pretty damn terrible. They are definitely the years where it was all on Hank

Wild are the only team with crappy posession stats that I wouldn't be too surprised to see go deep in the playoffs. Unlike most crappy corsi teams, they do seem to limit scoring chances.
