Corsica coming back is huge.

Being an advanced stats proponent was pretty much over after we lost hockeyanalysis

For real, this though

It's impossible to get any historical data without HA. Being a stats proponent would've been extremely difficult.

I imagine most of you that come to this thread listen to the Hockey PDOcast. But for those that don't: in the recent run, Filipovic and Hohl have been doing a redraft of 2006 to 2015.

Hohl seemed pretty adamant about putting McDonagh above Subban, even suggested at least having him in the argument for top player of the 2007 draft along with Kane and Benn.

While you could argue about this in several different ways, I have to wonder what Hohl has seen in his work (along with maybe what HockeyData has dug up) to give him this impression. Hohl is a smart guy and seems like he can balance eye test/analytics very well, so I'd be super intrigued to see the data that could support this opinion that McDonagh is not only better than Subban, but made Hohl stop and think "Might McDonagh be in the discussion, at least, for best player of the draft?"

Interesting stuff, nonetheless.

Side note: In Part 2, Filipovic continues to express his subtle love for Brady Skjei, and gives a nod to how good Buchnevich could be.

http://stats.hockeyanalysis.com bit the dust too? what the ****.

Manny put up a Corsica Patreon, so it looks like Corsica 2.0 is Soon[sup]TM[/sup]

Otherwise, hockeystats.ca and NaturalStatTrick are still around for in-game stats.

Micah still has HockeyViz up.

Tierney is still cranking out visuals on his Tableau.

There are as few others still around.

The point isn't really about going from bad to good.

The point is, Franson, by all accounts is a bad skater. Yet, he gets the results that he does anyway. What happens if you improve his skating slightly, from bad skater to below average skater?

Consider the quote from The West Wing again. Two players running to first base and tie. One with bad form, one with perfect form. Who do you take on your team? The guy with bad form. Teach him the right form, and he smokes the other guy.

Yeah I know that I was literally asking if anyone remembers what I was talking about (though I did a poor job of asking) and then meandered off on thoughts about it.

Also Corey @ShutdownLine has his site up for his micro tracking, and then Ian Flemings dispellingvoodoo.com for goalie stats.

Corey did finish tracking the Rangers, so the data on his site is complete for them. I think he just wrapped up the Yotes. Not sure who he is doing next.
