I can't wait for the draft party

I'm definitely going again this year, look forward to seeing some of you fine gents

Obviously the Rangers are strongly pulling for Tampa and Dallas to convert. But, if they had to choose any single team option to pull for, it would be the Winnipeg pick dropping.

Having picks 28 and 31 is great, and certainly better than having those picks at 50 and 60 respectively. But I can't help but feel that the Rangers would rather have the Jets pick be in the 19-22 range, than have two picks at 28 and 31.

In a nutshell, I don't think they'd trade a single pick at 19-22 for both the 28th and 31st picks. I could be wrong, but I think the thought of that second pick being higher excites them more.

And if the Dallas and TB picks end up being late seconds, I could see them using one to move up from 37 if they liked a guy, and possibly trying to flip the other for Fox.

Obviously not the grand slam of two top ten picks, or four first rounders, but I think they'd still be very happy with that out come.

Yes, exactly - we are saying the same thing. WPG1 round 1 exit is the ace card, trumps losing TB1.

The four centers will likely go anywhere from 3-10. The exact order and slots TBD.

Of course that’s assuming it’s not Newhook or even Krebs the Rangers fancy.

Aren't there 5 in that range? Turcotte, Zegres, Cozens, Dach and Krebs.

And I've seen Boldy listed as a C, LW and RW...where do you see him?

I want them to use their 2nd round picks as assets to package with the Jets 1st as well as the the 1st they get by trading Kreider, just so I don’t have to watch them take another goalie in the 2nd round.
At least they’ve been pretty good at finding good value in later rounds lately

Frankly, if they could come away with Kakko, one of Turcotte/Zegras/Dach/Newhook and one of Broberg/Soderstrom/York, I wouldn’t care what they did the rest of the draft.

On here, we’ve tended to focus on Cozens, Dach, Turcotte and Zegras as a quartet.

In some circles, Krebs is in same cluster of centers - for those who see him as a center. Personally I have him lower.

Boldy is generally seen as a top 10 pick, and I have him in that range as well — definitely as a wing.

In most drafts, Boldy would be a guy I’d likely have at 4-6. Love the shooting, love the ability to get into position, plays a very efficient game. Think he’s an ultimate support player type, as opposed to a line driver, but he’s certainly in the range we’re discussing.

For the record, I don't think that the Rangers select 22nd overall. If they hold onto this pick, however, my shortlist, in no particular order, includes:

Heinola
Seider
Harley (if he drops)
Brink
Pelletier
Tomasino

I'm all for Fagemo or Hoglander with our early 2nd rounder or Dallas' 1st if they get to the conference finals.

I don't know. Four top-10 picks, Chytil, Zibanejad, Howden, Butcher, Strome, Lemieux. That's 10 guys with very likely top-9 ability. Unless you see a prospect who has a realistic 1C potential, yet for some reason didnt go in the top-5, you go with a defenseman. I'm fairly certain the second and third lines wont be an issue. When Kakko is 22-23, assuming hes as advertised, him with Zibanejad and a UFA gets the job done on the first line. The defense blows, however. And defensemen bust more often, so I wouldn't be too confident with what we got already. We need another high quality defenseman. More draftees, more lottery tickets that can bloom.

If they have #2 and another top 10 pick I won’t care what they do with the rest of their picks

(I’ll be busy arguing with people that the draft pick value chart isn’t an end-all be-all and that the Rangers were in a position where overpaying makes sense for days on end)

The fantasy of having several first round picks is nice, especially when you dream about all of them becoming important pieces.

Having a lot of chips is a sound strategy, but this draft screams of an opportunity to try for high end talent.

It’s an audacious thing to really try and pull off, but the timing with where the team is, what they have, and what’s at the top of the draft really add up to making a lot of the potential overpayment combinations really worthwhile

You are clearly forgetting that the Rangers get a 4th round pick in 2022 if the Jets win the Cup.

Never been to a draft party before, how is it and what exactly goes on there? Read up a little on it but don’t know if it’s worth going
