Frankly, if they could come away with Kakko, one of Turcotte/Zegras/Dach/Newhook and one of Broberg/Soderstrom/York, I wouldn’t care what they did the rest of the draft.

Wouldn't they need 3 picks in the top 15 to pull that off?

On here, we’ve tended to focus on Cozens, Dach, Turcotte and Zegras as a quartet.

In some circles, Krebs is in same cluster of centers - for those who see him as a center. Personally I have him lower.

Boldy is generally seen as a top 10 pick, and I have him in that range as well — definitely as a wing.

In most drafts, Boldy would be a guy I’d likely have at 4-6. Love the shooting, love the ability to get into position, plays a very efficient game. Think he’s an ultimate support player type, as opposed to a line driver, but he’s certainly in the range we’re discussing.

Thanks. Seems like Boldy could go anywhere from 3 to 10. He's all over the place depending where you look.

My take, from my Rangers point of view, and how I think the draft breaks,

If a deal can be made I'd like to see them go for ceilings, and this particular draft seems to have that.

My tiers, take them with a grain of salt as they could change or be totally wrong I'm sure there will be some later risers in there which change things, just my take at the moment.

Top 2,
Hughes, Kakko
Rangers get one. Awesome.

High ceilings and safer than the tiers/groups following
Byram, Cozens, Dach, Turcotte, Krebs, Zegras

I think any of them could turn out to be the best player out of that group. Would love to see the Rangers be able to move up to get one. Would even overpay

Podkolzin I kind of put in a group of his own, ceiling is certainly there with the above, the coming over factor bothers me rightly or wrongly. As a faller I'm super interested, before the group above not so much.

Boldy, Newhook, (both I would maybe even put a tier up)

Then I see Caufield, Kaliyev, Suzuki (more risk yet the ceilings are there)Would still seriously consider moving up to get one, yet more risk in my mind.

That is 14

From there I'm no longer that interested in moving up if all above are gone. If a goalie is taken, some defender(s) below or some team(s) go off the board maybe those guys slip down a bit.

Then on to the, I do not dislike them, could turn out really well, maybe even better than some of the above yet to this point I'm not super excited about them. Some get dinged due to coming out of the Q, which I'm not sure is right either, yet from Rangers history I think it applies. The 15 through near end of first round where I'd likely just keep the pick without moving up and take one of these. Some I like more than others, things get more hazy for me where I'm weighting safe versus ceiling.

Group Defenders
York, Broberg, Soderstrom, Robertson, Seider, Heinola, Harley, etc
(only reason some of these defenders are not higher is because I like the ceilings of the forwards more and think the Rangers need forward ceilings, yet any of them could be the best player available at some earlier point in the draft)

Group Forwards
Lavoie, Brink, Poulin, Tomasino, Leason, Pelletier, Hoglander, etc

We do not need ANOTHER draft thread. Especially one that overlaps with existing threads. If we do want to devote a thread to our other 1st round pick, lets wait until we know where it will be before creating said thread.
