Unusual to see this many first line forward talents supposedly available. Larkin, Barzal, Robertson, Kyrou, Knies...that's a lot of guys not even including B Tkachuk.

The 9th pick this year seems pretty good when I look at rankings. Also solves a leadership issue, now they can get a captain from Canada or Europe. Seems more stable long term.

At least in Sweden it's a culture thing that if you accept the role as captain you don't really leave (unless forced to). Going to another team just to win would be considered pretty disgusting. I sort of understand it NA context where teams can tank tough and intentionally lose for large periods of time.
Leaving a team trying to win? Disgusting.

We were very close to losing Dahlin.

Based on what? The rumors late last season when Dahlin met with Adams? As far as I remember that was all just rumors and Dahlin denied it when asked about it. I don't think we were very close to losing Dahlin at all.

Yes..the meetings.

I don't remember the denials

Tkachuk trade is exciting news for the league. Whether you think the bros are cringe idiots or throwback dawgs, having them team up after their USA heroics is a fun storyline imo. Also happy for Brady to escape the gray Canadian slog of Ottawa.

Division-wise, it's frustrating that Florida is reloading for one more 2-3 year window but it was inevitable - none of us was burying them yet. Ottawa will look to retool and has major flexibility with cap/picks now, but of course no guarantee that it doesn't crash and burn and end up in a full rebuild in a few years.

Do you even remember the report? It was that he met with Adams to try and understand the future plan here. He was then asked about it after spitting chicklets and their throw everything at the wall for clicks bullshit turned it into he wants out. He said that wasn’t close to true.

Then he went into the offseason with Tage and they decided they were going to double down and win here no matter what.

And then they won.

Those are the things that happened. How you turned that into close to losing Dahlin I do not know.

Because going to your GM to see what the future plans are isn't because he was "just curious" ... If you want to believe he wasn't close to asking out go right on ahead.

I don’t think dahlin gave the team an ultimatum or anything but you don’t ask to see the vision because you’re confident and committed

And yet…the entire story ended with him being both of those things.

You want to believe what a podcast where they laugh at each others mouth farts as gospel…go ahead. But try and find me one actual report he wanted out or that there was even ONE conversation about a trade reported anywhere. What was the rumored return? What teams were in on that? Surely if we almost lost him that should be easy to remember or find.

Then look up the word “close” in the dictionary.

In a rising cap world.....4M cap hit is fine for a guy like Dickinson, IMO. Bottom 6 guy that's great defensively, an ace PKer and can play center or wing.

I'm not sure how he holds up over 5 years though. That term is the ooooof parTt
They have 7 UFAs, 2 RFAs and only 1 goalie who isn't a starter with only 10 million in cap space. I guess icing a full team isn't a big deal.

So far it feels like a typical Buffalo offseason where everyone gets better around us. Of course its just getting started...
