I think with all the names that have been floated around I would dislike using Byram or anyone for McTavish or Zacha if that's who we end up with.

If they feel like they have to move Byram, it will be interesting to see what teams are in the mix.

I just don't see Byram, who is not an analytics darling, being of interest to Toronto, even if Sabres fans want Knies.

Byram doesn't want to be the third D on the totem pole...unless it's in Dallas thanks to a trade that gets Robertson here.

Again, if he's unhappy in NYC because his Russian buddy is gone, why would he want to come to Buffalo?

I'm assuming it would mostly bank on Jarmo being able to sell him on it being similar to Columbus if he enjoyed that vibe (smaller city, less pressure, etc) Also Lindy has a long history with Russian D-men going back to Zhitnik/Kalinin from his first run here.

I will believe it when I see it.

Similar to Parayko waiving this summer for me.

I would rather overpay for Byram than overpay for Tuch.

But I’m concerned that Byram wants to be that top-pairing powerplay QB guy, and it just won’t ever happen here.

If he’s moved for center help, we need a plan for a 2nd pairing RHD that can skate.
I give Byram 10 mill in an instant. Why are we shedding cap by giving up Kesselring and Tuch unless we sign Byram?
Jarmo needs to be fired before the draft if this continues.

He's not waiving. His GF is in line for more money than he has. He's won a Cup in STL and is a town hero. No reason to leave.
Someone recently said he was for the initial trade (can't remember who), but his agent talked him into thinking twice. Might be PR, maybe he changes his mind now, who knows.

Are you saying people marry for money ? how scrupulous :D

I'd keep him for 9.5 - 10. Of he wants more, I'm calling Holland and asking for Laferriere. Seems like a younger Tuch clone and LA has a need, badly, for Byram.

Why did Montreal come within a whisker of trading their tip prospect (Hage +) for him ?
My guess - 1) they have an insane amount of young NHL talent on their roster already. 2) Their package wasn't really even that great (late 1sts and 1 B+ prospect). 3) Knies is a big body for their top 6, which they badly needed.

It's more team need than raw value and talent in that scenario

Who is more overhyped... Knies or Hage?
