Speculation: The 2026-27 Roster Speculation Thread: Summer Edition - Throw in All The Oars, We're Trading for Battleships

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
Alright San Jose. Flip 9 to us for Byram. We'll send something back to make up the difference.

Why would we send anything back?

Nemec got 2 1sts. Byram is better than Nemec. Something like 9th OA is the starting point for a deal.

Give San Jose permission to speak with Byram before the trade and get a deal done on paper for him to sign 7/1.

Sabres still victims of the Palm Tree tax. Not even winning can supplant them.
The offseason has barely gotten started, with zero rumors out there regarding the Sabres....especially rumors that X player didn't want to come here. So let's see what happens.

AND

I think winning for ONE season isn't likely enough to get us off of some bigger-name trade clauses, especially from more desirable teams/locales.

I'm on record as thinking that we're not likely to do much in terms of roster moves much to the dismay of some/many.......but I think it'll be because Jarmo decides that's our track. Not due to some "Palm Tree tax" or some such.

It was tongue in cheek but I agree one season won't change people's perception. Most fans that I've talked to believe Buffalo was a one and done team that had a magical season and I think that echos with most NHL fan's.

It was an odd year with both Toronto and Florida not being in the mix and I think people believe them to be back in it next year.

Florida is absolutely going to be back in the mix. Toronto I'm not so sure about. Their ability to defend (team-wide, not just defense) and their goaltending are HUGE question marks. Tavares is aging out quickly and I think Matthews is start a slow decline....yeah, he'll be PPG for a few years but I think his body is going to betray him.

And if my hunch is right and Jarmo is going to take our team even younger.....I think we're in for a slip.

There’s actually bunch of Sabres rumors out there - dreger saying we’re very active in trade talks, links to big goalies, rumors on Tuch rights traded and Byram being moved - how is that not rumors??

But also I agree it’s June 23 - draft not til end of week - they could make a massive trade tomorrow. Kyrou was interesting but Eklund dies nothing for me - why have him traded for to okay over our top 3 young guys? Otherwise nothing done they’d be in Il( aka tkachuk was never cling here)

He will believe it when he see's it ;)

He starts out by saying it was massive move

Then goes on to add that even if they has their 2nd & 3rd it would not of been enough to move up to 20

Maybe it's a gift from Jarmo to Forton for mostly wasting the other picks at the deadline ? ;)
if we can't get in range to draft Bjorck, which is very doubtful, I am very content at 20. Have our pick of a lot of solid options there.
