The 2024-2025 Roster Thread

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Random thought, but when's the last time we had a defenseman that looks good when not paired with Dahlin? Byram looks quite a bit worse when he's not paired with Dahlin- right?

I'm wondering this because while I'm frustrated with Power- part of me wants to see him with a legit D partner before trading him away. A lot of his issues are his own that can hopefully be ironed out in time, but I also believe the team hinders him a lot as well.

Michael Russo mentions JJP here as a scoring target for the Wild this summer and a higher than 70% chance Rossi gets moved.

Would you consider the basis of a JJP for Rossi deal this summer ?

1A-1B C Norris - Rossi
3C McLeod
4C Kozak

Rossi would be the player I would want them to ask about. I put no faith in Thompson being a center that wins his matchup at both ends of the ice nor in Norris ability to remain healthy enough to be an impact player.

Will Adams consider Rossi too young ? Will Sabres scouting staff be on board with a player they passed on originally in the draft ?

No idea if their pro scout would overrule the amateur guys. It's not like players don't grow and develop over time. Rossi has certainly grown and developed.
I just wonder if they think they can bridge JJP and then get a Vet center for a couple years until Ostlund/Helenius are ready ?

I would do Peterka for Rossi in a heartbeat. Rossi has been getting better and better and is only 23 years old. Rossi will also cost less to sign than Peterka in my opinion leaving cap space to sign players.

I saw that, just using the last post to say that I don’t understand why Peterka would be a scoring target when he scores roughly the same number of goals at a less valuable position.

Maybe it’s as simple as 5’9” vs 6”?
The rumor out there is that Guerin doesn't like Rossi because size.

Does it make sense? F*** no. But....that's what's out there.

Its not my post I was just replying to the other poster so I don't have much insight into why just that I would do that trade.

I did read on a Minnesota thread that Guerin is not big on paying out a big contract to a 5'9 player.

That Guerin is going to target Brock Nelson who is 6'4

So I am guessing thats it that they want to get bigger.

Because Rossi had an inflated point total with Kaprizov. Since Kaprizov has been out he's at like 10 points (5 goals) in 22 games. That's still with playing with guys like Boldy/Zuccarello.

Peterka has the potential for a Kyle Connor type player. Marco Rossi just looks like a 40-50 point 2nd/3rd liner. Don't see him being anything more.

Was that norris trade even necessary ? Could wait til draft and make better trade for a player that suits us. Hopefully he can stay healthy
you came here nearly every day for weeks asking if there were any trades or rumors. One happens and your ask that ?

Watch the deadline video, they HAD to the change the culture in the room. And they like Norris.

Peterka's numbers away from tage are better, but not by much.

Either way, to me the rossi thing was interesting if that was on the table for cozens. It would have felt like a clear upgrade. I know we've wanted centers, but idk that Rossi and Peterka in a deal moves the needle that much for us.

No they didn’t. The tdl isn’t a time for culture change. It is a time to dump expiring comtracts or load up for a playoff run. We did neither. We swapped a disappointing player for an injury prone one. All of this could have waited until after the season when more parties could play.

How do you know a better center than Norris (or deal) would of been available in the summer or they have the ammo to get one ? Maybe Norris was the guy they wanted all along after Petterson came off the market.

Lindy is shown saying they need culture change.

I'm disappointed we have not seen much of Norris but you have to give it longer than 2 weeks. If it continues into next year then there's trouble.

90% of posters here wanted a hockey trade if possible at the deadline and Cozens gone. You can't have it both ways no matter your agenda.

Good counter argument though and like left for common courtesy!
