Well, we might give Metsa a chance, if only he had an NHL contract.
As a long-time Metsa fan, I would be thrilled with that. Even if he is "just" a 6 at the NHL level, it would be a change in skills and personnel.

Metsa would likely step in and sadly be our 4th best dman. That being said I agree that he's essentially Pilut in the long run. Both he and Ryan Johnson will be eligible for social security before Adams gives them a shot over effing Bryson.
Its odd. I think most seasons, fans can come up with a reasonable list of things the team needs to fix. I can't. Every potential move just opens another hole.
Knowing the front office is just a mess with no direction, any sort of move, even a big one, feels superficial at best. Just stuck in an endless loop of false hope because of a lack of experience in how to build a team.

so why are we giving up so much for Pettersson if he plays like a 3 c ? Its like we need to add to Cozens as he Also plays like a 3 c .

Probably that he has a 90+ and a 100+ point season in his recent history. I’m more concerned about if he still has lingering effects from his knee injury a few years ago. That’s when it’s scoring really seem to drop off and the skating stats seemed to support the top speed and burst aren’t what they were.
At the same level, he is a better defensive player. He actually takes away people’s hands and gets underneath his check to cause separation. Larry was smart and could anticipate plays to intercept pucks and turn things the other way quickly, but Zach is a better player at actually defending in my opinion.

It is a matter of fit. Is he able to play 5-on-5 with someone like Dahlin or Power? Is he able to supplant Clifton’s toughness in the third pair? *shrug* I would love to see him get some time but I have doubts they will do it because the defense is such a mismatch.
I copied a reply to a question about Petersson on the main trade board.
Does anyone know what exactly the rift is? Is it an on ice thing, off ice? Are they both being unreasonable?
JT Miller is an ultra competitive asshole who gets on teammates and Pettersson is the guy who is in his crosshairs due to his soft inconsistent play.
Both are at fault.
Pettersson for underplaying.
JT Miller for thinking he is Michael Jordan.

It will most likely be short-lived, but we'll feel the pinch on oil if it's included (doubt he does this) as much as $.75 increase per gallon - so travel costs. But the biggest hit would be on the Canadian dollar, which would probably really tank - so if it's protracted, it could impact the salary cap as revenues go down.

Because one is still a 1C, and the other is probably a bad 3C right now or not a center at all. Pettersson plays like an elite 1C when Miller is not there, scoring 15 points in 9 games, but with Miller his numbers are down.
I hope this is nonsense and Adams is not that stupid, although what am I talking about.

Funny everyone saying byram wants to be a 1d and he's been on colorado (makar toews) and Buffalo (dahlin power) and now maybe vancouver (Hughes hronek) kid can't catch a break. Someone just deal him to one of the desolate wastelands of offensive defensemen like toronto/stl/sjs/cgy or a handful of others where he gets to run a pp1 lmao

as said previously, I would rather see KA go the Pens route for D (M. Pettersson) in a separate deal. Lets hope his epitaph isn't... lost EP holding out for Desharnais!
