It concerns me that EP apparently gets pouty about Miller trying to light a fire under his ass. Another wimpy forward, no matter how talented, might not be a great answer for the Sabres.

On too many nights I see a rudderless collection of mostly physically and emotionally soft under-achievers. EP might slide into that groove too perfectly. If they were flush with skate-through-a-wall warriors it would be a different story.

I think this is a valid concern. It's a real risk that EP could end up falling into a depressive pout fest here.

But then we're really not any worse off than we are now. Even an under performing EP is still light years ahead of what we've been getting from Cozens.

I don't think that's the problem. We lack skill and maturity in the team. Why would EP be depressed if he continued to show his good level even in the Canucks, even when Miller was still angry at everyone, it just didn't start yesterday and probably this season Miller got to him completely.

If a deal is doable with Cozens and picks/prospects, it's worth it. Petey is a great talent. On his game he's a legit #1C, no doubt.

Cozens+Power? Too much. Maybe I don't know when to cut losses, but I salivate at what a blueline of Dahlin (24), Byram (23), and Power (22) can be in 2-3 years. We're not exactly in win-now mode.

Otoh, Vancouver is definitely in win-now mode, although perhaps derailed by Demko's absence. I don't see what interest they'd have in a young reclamation center project and futures. They might want Tage++.

Don't think they're ideal trade partners.

Reading all these trade ideas and despite his struggles, I still have no desire to move him.

Power on the other hand... He even has some pretty analytics that should boost his trade value to some out there.

Well, everyone has their favorites, although Cozens is not one of them for me.

It's precisely the opposite for me.

I'm reluctant to give up on Power, despite his likely better trade value. Otoh Cozens' stellar season probably won't reoccur. He just looks so clueless out there too often - beer league comedy.

One of us might be right!

I think the cozens of two years ago is mostly a mirage. If he can get to that level again, I can’t imagine it’s his standard throughout his career.

If Byram + cap is the cost to upgrade him to EP, so be it

I have the opposite reaction. when i see him in trades i reflexively lower the total value I see buffalo adding on their side. The guy is f***ing terrible and i cant wait til he's gone

In all honesty what other teams are trying to get EP and what do those teams have to offer right now there is a rift in the org between EP and miller/Alvin seems like petey wants out and Alvin basically said he is willing to trade him and that 11.6 mil price tag isn't doing his value any good still a valuable piece but not the franchise cornerstone value we are hyping him up as. Let's not dig ourselves in a whole and outbid ourselves Detroit doesn't have the pieces unless they are willing to move a big piece like Larkin if they are willing to part ways who is beating cozens/byram+sammy+1st as a base we have prospects like Rosen and ostlund who hold good value or do they want a guy like Krebs and Greenway we have a combo of guys we can work with we don't have to move Byram and cozens right off the bat.

Trying to be objective, I'd guess most teams would think they'd have a better chance at polishing Power's game than resurrecting Cozens'.

Higher ceiling, with a better chance to hit it. 22 year-old d-man versus 24 year-old (next month) forward. A big, puck-moving D, even with Power's current deficiencies, will always be a coveted asset.

If it's a choice between who has more value as a trade chip, send Power.

If it's a choice between who we should retain for the long-term benefit of the Sabres, bye-bye Dylan.

Can't imagine McTavish holds much more value this year and zegras couldn't hand the spotlight of the ea cover maybe they have the d men to compete with us but I imagine they stay pat if they gotta use major future assets

Well McTavish doesn't make 7 million like Cozens and he's a little younger. I don't know how short a leash Verbeek has. But Pettersson and Carlsson as their top 6 centers would probably make sense for them. And they also have these young LDs who can move the puck for a deal.

We probably have all the assets to get EP40 and the only question is whether the Canucks are willing to part with him for a good price and whether Adams (Pegula) is willing to pay for it.
