Borgen wasn't very good, I don't think he's the good target for our top 4. Ekblad, Kovacevic, Fabbro, Maybe Pionk.
The way the Sabres miss the net, a Pionk or two would be progress.

Well, it seems he was never great in defense, but he is physical, I'm not sure if he would be good in a pair with Power, for example, but I think the pair Dahlin - Pionk would be normal, no worse than the pair Dahlin - Byram. Although this is just my guess, I could be wrong. The way the Sabres miss the net, a Pionk or two would be progress.

Gotcha. Well, I didn't even understand that.I was just making a joke that his name sounds like a shot hitting the goal post
I will sort of echo what @Chainshot has posted. If there is a deal to be done, I'd rather give up Power plus less assets than Byram plus more, especially if that "more" is Cozens. I've been harping all about how they should've kept Mitts because Cozens isn't a C, but I still believe Cozens can get right as a RW. I also think Byram is mediocre defensively but not nearly as inept as Power is around his own net.How many people would prefer Byram in an EP40 deal vs how many people would rather trade power in that trade.
Im genuinely curious to see how it stacks up amongst us sabre fans.ill try to keep a tally to see how it varies
If I had to keep one guy, as rough as he’s been lately I’d probably keep power. I just think the ceiling is higher.
That’s interesting.
That’s interesting.
Good postI know EP’s rumored availability, age and loose association with Ras (I did the briefest research but it didn’t look like they were close, aside from one tournament together) make him seem like a sensible pickup and I’m of the opinion that he does bounce back to his 90+ point, two way level, but I’m also not convinced he’s what the Sabres need. He doesn’t seem to like being challenged or dealing with adversity and even though he’s great defensively when he’s on, he doesn’t really make the team harder to play against. By no means do I think he’s a bad get - if Buffalo ends to landing him, I’ll be happy. But it’s funny to me that Miller (even at 31) is actually probably the better fit for what Buffalo needs. I know he most likely wouldn’t ever waive his NMC for Buffalo, so it’s pretty moot, but he’s probably cheaper to acquire and has a larger impact in steering the Sabres the right way.
At the same time, if you’re looking at moving Byram/Power and Cozens/Peterka you may want to also look at packaging any of them with prospects and picks (it’s time to start spending them on finishing the roster, not continuing to stock pile, IMO) on going after Rasmus Andersson, Carlo, Parayko, etc. types.
And throw 14M at Rantanen. Him and Tage? Two towers.
Yes move cozens to wing and let hayton take on the center responsibilities he would be able to use his speed more effectively in entriesBased on his current trajectory, do you guys think Dawson Mercer is a decent comparable for JJ Peterka' next contract? Something like 2 or 3 years x $4.5-$5M?
And Barrett Hayton for Jack Quinn?
My issue with trading power and keeping byram is that byram really hasn't had great results in his career, outside of playing with dahlin
Colorado had a good team and he still had iffy numbers. And while he generally passes the eye test, sometimes it seems like skill can cover for effectiveness. For as soft as OP is, he found a way to have a good impact playing with pretty much everyone, including joker.
Idk I'm pretty conflicted at the moment. I guess the contract is the big issue
Quinn Will be great player much More Likely than cozens. But acquiring a tough vet center. That can create still or cocky kid whose confidence cant be shaken like a zegras to put cozens on a third line wing and McLeod plays w or upYes move cozens to wing and let hayton take on the center responsibilities he would be able to use his speed more effectively in entries
That's a pipe dream and he's never coming near here. And throw 14M at Rantanen. Him and Tage? Two towers.
He is trying to do to much from what I see he is playing with a great motor but almost to much motor he needs to calm down and slow his role. The whole lines timing is off with eachother releasing to early or to late and out of position when the puck goes around the boards, I feel if the forwards rotated with the d to allow them to pinch more effectively we would see more zone possession we play to cautiously and end up just collapsing as soon as something goes wrong we play so nervously and the state of the team has every micro mistake magnified its like they freeze for half a second if the feel they made the wrong play analyze the play and get yelled at on the bench but play out the shift recover not scrambleQuinn Will be great player much More Likely than cozens. I think cozens is addition by subtraction his confidence seems.shot here
He’s been playing with Tage for several games.I'm not ready to give up on Cozens. He shouldn't be playing with Quinn, Cozen's isn't a strong enough player to make up for the problems on his wing. That's its own separate issue, but one thing at a time.
They also shouldn't be playing Sameulsson, but I know he used to hit people in the AHL and he's big.. so there's that.
huh??Why not trade and re-sign Zucker? (like they should have done with Skinner)
He’s been playing with Tage for several games.
He’s still shit.
huh??
Well he's still mostly bad and he definitely shouldn't be playing center. Like I said before he has flashes and good games but most of the time he makes a lot of weird plays and mistakes. If we can get Pettersson and give up Cozens to get him I'm easy on that. Of course if we can get Pettersson without giving up Cozens we can put him on the wing EP40 and maybe he'll thrive there. But he shouldn't be untouchable because of his play from two years ago.Let's be fair here, promoting him to 1C because Thompson is hurt is probably not setting anyone up for success.
They're 2-3 for goals and 58% xG, that's not too bad; against good teams.
Here I agree, Samuelsson is bad, people don’t notice it, perhaps I could easily replace him with a right vet in the third pair. They also shouldn't be playing Sameulsson, but I know he used to hit people in the AHL and he's big.. so there's that.
it was the skinner part that made me question??Let's be fair here, promoting him to 1C because Thompson is hurt is probably not setting anyone up for success.

If Zucker really wants to stick in Buffalo (which I'd doubt). Trade him and re-sign him in the offseason.
