I doubt that Craiger wants to move Andersson or Weegar for a struggling young center on a big ticket contract.
The challenge is that they are unlikely to have much trade value right now. Ostlund has only played 6 games for the Amerks this season and hasn't done anything. And Helenius is not looking like the NHL-ready guy that his coach last year hyped him up as.

Ostlund has been hurt - seems like either concussion or shoulder based on the seven weeks since he last played. Helenius has done well but isn't NHL ready. But he may very well be very close.

It's not a problem for me to trade such a prospect for a top 4 RD, we need this no less than 2C, if not more.

To get a good, proven 2C/top 6C we'll probably need to trade Cozens+ or one of Byram/Power as the basis of a deal. Either trade for a rental (Granlund, Nelson) or look for a guy who might need a change of scenery and can break out elsewhere. Like Zito did with Bennett.

The team is soft. They can’t handle old man Lindy being the least bit critical of them without turtling. If Torts were here he’d 1. Be fired almost immediately. And even if he wasn’t these kids would be crying in their cars in the parking lot, refusing to come in for game day.
My point is, they don’t need harder coaching, they need more hardened peers. Too many softies. And too many prior soft coaches to stroke their egos when Lindy isn’t listening.
Right now we’re watching kids who just went to college, then mom and dad held their hand through grad school and are now out in the real world all on their own.

I don't think they are getting a prime-aged 2C in season unless someone somewhere has a breakdown with their team and demands to be traded.
But a replacement veteran type 2C? I could see them trying that out if they weren't so absolutely fetishizing picks and prospects by making a pick for vet deal earlier than the deadline. That's basically Gourde from Seattle or Granlund from San Jose - both have warts, not sure Gourde is actually 2C productive, but if they want to push Cozens to wing, they would have to look at some sort of rent-to-own.

I don't believe trading from an area of weakness is ever a good idea (hence why I was so vehemently against the Mitts/Byram trade). Using a combination of roster players, picks, and/or non-center prospects should be sufficient to score a decent partner for Power/Byram.

Or look at guys like Frost, Kotkaniemi, Pinto and Novak and hope they could fill that hole.
Sometimes you have to give to get. But we're talking specifically about Weegar here. Of course Adams could have been a top 4 RD long ago if he wanted to, but he didn't want to do that in the summer. It's going to be a lot harder now.
Frost is probably the option, but the Flyers being run by a cabal of former players means deals will likely have to require a seance where Snyder's ghost approves the deal.
Norris seems like the available guy over Pinto.

Norris is a good player, but we all know his situation with his shoulder and contract. We'll have to maybe include someone like Sammy in the deal to reduce the risk.

A nearing "best before date" vet 2C is probably the most likely scenario and who knows, might even be the best play given the givens. That said, I still would like them to take a big swing (even if I know it's a pipe dream).

I wouldn't touch Norris with Chara's stick.
He is a goals > assists guy and another young guy from a losing organization who's never been on a playoff team.
Hard pass for me.
Helenius is practically untouchable in my eyes. We talk about low IQ players currently being an issue, I think he's has that ROR/Reinhart level IQ out there when he arrives.

Probably any prospect should be on the table for a right deal, although I also really like Helenius and would not want to trade him.

I love Helenius. He was the player I wanted even if they didn’t trade down.
