Oh my god if we got Dobson our defense would be even more of a joke defensively. Have you guys seriously seen him play?
For some reason his game has fallen off a cliff this season.Oh my god if we got Dobson our defense would be even more of a joke defensively. Have you guys seriously seen him play?
I’ve got good buddies that watch every islanders game (live in Nassau) and they’d rather trade him then sign him long term for whatever he’ll demand - just because they think he’s a joke defensively. Guys with pretty good hockey knowledge too id say. I’d much rather a guy like Pulock over DobsonFor some reason his game has fallen off a cliff this season.
Yeap, I was thinking about Pulock too.I’ve got good buddies that watch every islanders game (live in Nassau) and they’d rather trade him then sign him long term for whatever he’ll demand - just because they think he’s a joke defensively. With this contract he is now playing at a loss to us, everyone dreams of moving him to the wing, but we also don’t know whether he will succeed there or not, but Ruff doesn’t do it and we can’t see it. Cozens is one of our first forwards that I am ready to trade. If we can get a top 4 RHD for Cozens I pull the trigger. Cozens adds nothing so its like adding a free defenseman.
What happened to the Cozens from the World Championships?
Are there any offensive LHD that we can get. Young, high cost preferably. Why not have a fourth
If only you could combine Botts and Adams, you might have a defense that resembles the rest of the NHLReading Botterill's old notes upside down?
Unfortunately this team isn't going to win with Joker in the top 4 and Bryson in the top 6.With this contract he is now playing at a loss to us, everyone dreams of moving him to the wing, but we also don’t know whether he will succeed there or not, but Ruff doesn’t do it and we can’t see it. We also have problems in attack, no 2C, Quinn doesn't produce, Peterka is inconsistent, Tuch sometimes floats, plus injuries. Adams just screwed up.Unfortunately this team isn't going to win with Joker in the top 4 and Bryson in the top 6.
Adams hasn't bothered to deal with the situation on defense. Trading for a top 4 to partner with Power should have been much easier last off season but he ignored it.
This is going on years that the defense needed to be better.
I agree on the summer part but no one wanted to come here and trades were far and few.It would have been easier to do all this in the summer, no one trades this in December. I don't see any logic, and Adams screwed up.

What do you mean he didn't want to come? Most players don't have a no-trade clause. Marino, Kovacevic and Jensen were traded this summer. Fabbro was recently available for next to nothing. There are always options.I agree on the summer part but no one wanted to come here and trades were far and few.
These guys are good players.. not superstars ... Thompson plus Power is waaay too much for Barzal and Dobson.I think you would need to swap Cozens with Thompson. I would still do it. But Cozens doesn't move the needle enough to make Lou do it.
Barzal + Pulock makes more sense. These guys are good players.. not superstars ... Thompson plus Power is waaay too much for Barzal and Dobson.
Dobson might be just as bad as Power in the defensive zone.
Barzal + Pulock makes more sense.
No, I wouldn't either. I was just saying Pulock would make more sense for us instead of Dobson. It would be Cozens for me, not Thompson.I still wouldn't give up Thompson and Power for that.
Barzal has just as many warts as Thompson and it still puts us lacking a top 6 Center.
Nah, you'd still have a soft, low IQ defense corp. Botts literally sold off the balls off the team.If only you could combine Botts and Adams, you might have a defense that resembles the rest of the NHL
I think he was good, but he was constantly playing on different lines and we didn't have stability in the lineup. I think we definitely need a really good top 6 C, with whom we can try different wingers, but at the moment it's hard to really evaluate anything. What are people's thoughts on Kulich's play?
I really like what he has shown this call up. It hasn't shown up on the scoreboard but he has been really engaged in the offensive side of things. He seems to be always around the net. If he can get a little more engaged I think it will start to show on the scoreboard.
This roster has enough talent to at least contend for a WC spot, but not with the way they play.
The number of bonehead defensive mistakes they make is unforgiveable. Stupid d-man pinches with no forward back. Two guys covering the puck carrier. Failing to tie up forwards' sticks. Losing coverage as an opponent streaks to the net. This is Hockey 101 stuff that house league peewees are taught.
Lindy has to take some of the blame here, but too many of our 1st-round picks (I count 11, 5 in the top-10) lack the consistent determination it takes to succeed at the NHL level, as individual players and as a team.
Marino, for me, would have been and still is a hard pass. Kovacevic and Jensen would have been interesting but feel they would have been just as bad as what we have now. Fabbro, I would have taken a chance on for something dirt cheap future considerations or Glotov's rights ).What do you mean he didn't want to come? Most players don't have a no-trade clause.
