I believe a potential Juricek trade would happen over the summer if at all.

For now we hope they develop more and then closer to the deadline make a move for veteran pending UFA d-man. Not sure who’d be available but this is the piece they’re missing. Then they can send Bryson down and let Joki ride the bench.

Off season I believe Samuelsson will be part of a deal for a RHD. He’s still young, has size, and signed for term. There’s lots of bad nhl GM’s that believe they can turn him into something.

I have no idea where the team will be closer to TDL, perhaps we won’t even be buyers, it’s too early to guess now. If there is any way to improve the lineup in the near future, it makes a lot of sense.

Make Nashville an offer they can't refuse for ROR.
I don't really mind, but it will look a little weird to some other people. It's funny that ROR doesn't have any trade protections in his contract.

I would also kick the tires on Rossi, I think he would be a very good 2C for us. Local journalist Wild said that Guerin/Hynes for some reason might make Rossi available, maybe because of Yurov, maybe because of something else. I watched game Wild vs Flames yesterday, I really liked Rossi's game.

Are they playing better defense with Samuelsson out of the lineup? I'm wondering about his usefulness long term. He seems to miss about half the games every single season though, so maybe it doesn't matter.
I think they got better due to breaking up Byram/Power. They were our worst pairing to start the season. Now Byram is with Dahlin and Bryson did ok with Power.

He is bad ?

or how good is he now ? Veteran with sc would be very good

If he still can skate
I don't think he's bad. Sure he's older, but from what I understand, Nashville isn't very good. It seems like the GM signed a lot of big-name veterans, and the coach is preaching a system that doesn't really suit those players. At least that's what I read on Preds boards.

He's still decent defensively and puts up some points, and his photo...he looks just as young (or old?) as he did when he was in Buffalo. I think he was a good pickup, although it would be weird, but if he helped the Sabres get to the playoffs, that would be a hell of a story.

Thoughts? What can we offer without weakening our lineup. We have so many attacking prospects and some young guys in RD, but they are still far away.

Well Idk, we may have different options.

Peterka - Thompson - Tuch
Benson - ROR - Cozens
Zucker - McLeod - Quinn
Malenstyn - Krebs - Greenway

or something else
I would love to get ROR back and he doesn't have a NTC but didn't Pegula want him gone?

At 4.5m for two more years after this one its something Buffalo can handle even if he is going downhill. At 40-50 points its still an ok contract.

Screw Pegula, let Adams and Ruff say he's going to be a huge help to us getting into the playoffs and he's found his love for the game again. :)

Hey I agree, I don't care about that stuff. Just bring in guys that care about winning. That was the issue in the first place. Plus there is no timmies in Nashville :)

That he needs to work on his leg strength and skating. In reality, trading Jiricek doesn't mean he's going to be in our top 4 right away, it's an investment in the future. Players like that are pretty rare, if we can get him without weakening our roster, I'd consider it.
CBJ and BUF are poor trading partners. CBJ doesn’t need what BUF has imo. Especially if it’s restricted to pure futures.

Maybe they’d bite on Helenius - Jiricek

i'm fine with kicking out whoever in the bottom 3 is playing terrible when necessary so the guys that come in and play like their job is on the line. I'm sure with that type of motivation the D will understand how hard it is to break in and stay there that they continue to give full effort. I think a big forward add into the top 6 is more of a need than top 4 RD atm.
