The 2024-2025 Roster Thread

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.
I hope.

What's the list of players there? Who has access? In the tags I only saw Bunting, Nyqvist and Bjorkstrand. Of these three, I'm for Bjorkstrand, especially since I suggested him as an option not long ago. Excellent forechecker, had a solid last season.

Those are all disappointing options.

Well, there aren't really any others, apparently. Although I think Bjorkstrand would be a good pickup.
That's what I've been saying. The guys the Sabres need don't want to come here. The ones that are available other than Bjorkstrand aren't worth getting.
.I have no interest in trading picks or roster guys to take a chance on a guy who doesn't fit another team. For everyone that does work out there is just as many that don't.

If you're not interested, that's your problem, I am interested. It's a business, players have contracts they sign, most NHL players don't have any kind of trade ban. There are always options, you just have to know how to work.

You're right not all players have any trade ban. Those top 6 or top 4 YOU WANT, most aren't available. The ones that are, are on that list with Bjorkstrand. I'm saying I have no interest in taking a chance on guys that other teams have given up on.

I just don't agree with change for the sake of change just to shake things up.

Take Quinn for example, yeah he's not playing great this season, I have no interest in going after a player in a similar situation on another team in hope that player comes here and turns it around.

I'm of the belief that to really make this team better is to actually get legit top 6 guys like a Zegras.

Well, I'm all for getting a guy like Zegras too. I'm just saying there are options, depends on the price and offer. Bjorkstrand is also a decent RW for the second line.

Players like Terry, Thomas, Kyrou, Maccelli and Crouse also don't have trade protection.

Bjorkstrand not available in real life - he’s a core kraken and they are going for playoffs this year bc they have a lot if season ticket holders agreements coming up. They might trade tolvanen but not the maestro

It's weird, I read on the Kraken board that it doesn't fit into Bylsma's system.

I’ve gone to almost every game this year and he’s playing a ton and outside of a few game slump has been quite good. He’s a rush player with d responsibility and very very popular - I think him being available is not very realistic being around the team and following their insider

At least not now - if they are way out at the trade deadline and he’s not planning on resigning after next year and the team knows then maybe - but even then Francis may get fired if they miss the playoffs so I’d be hard pressed to think Bjorkie is the piece being moved out to get them there

Yeah, I've liked this player since his Columbus days.

What's the knock of Bjorkstrand? I personally think he would be a great fit
Well, the Sabres and Kraken fan above says he's probably unavailable. Seattle is in win mode, not rebuilding, and Bjorkstrand is an important player for them. So they need to look elsewhere.

My question is to why some posters wouldn't want him in the blue and gold. It doesn't make sense

Wonder if they do 5 quarters for a dollar of a good ELC player. I know the age isn't ideal but if it's someone that projects, or already is a top 6 player on a not-so-good team that might want to fill several holes. I know those guys don't get moved often but maybe the right amount of picks/prospects gets it done.

I immediately thought of Jiricek, even though he is a defenseman, it seems like things aren't perfect for him in Columbus.

But I think it's hard to find guys like that, teams won't want to part with them, and no one will huge overpay them either, especially Kevyn.

You won't often hear about a good ELC being available but I think KA might pony up for the right guy

More young players have forced movement lately.

I think of:
McGroarty for Yager
Cutter G. for Drysdale

Waddell will be looking for a similar trade for Jiricek. He stated he doesn't want a 28 year old player. He wants another young player that matches their time-line.

Dude I was mildly poking fun at you for saying it like 4 times in the last two days lol.
Funny

I was just trying to explain that you don't have to trade only for elite players, that you can find good players through scouting and analytics.
