By circumventing the salary cap pretty badly to ice a stacked team...They also didn't want to give Eichel his desired surgery and then he went on to win a Stanley Cup.

If the past 20-30 years has taught us anything it should be that betting against advances in modern medicine/surgical procedures is about as wise as betting against Tom Brady. The odds *ARE* against him.
The actual surgery is no riskier than the alternative.
The risk lies in playing a full NHL career with an artificial disk vs a fusion. The doctors know the fusion is safe long term for an NHL player, but they do not know if the artificial disk can withstand multiple years of NHL level hits. The consensus among doctors is that they do not believe it can, and that disk failure would have catastrophic consequences, potentially paralysis or death.
I’m pretty sure if it was Dahlin, something would have been worked out. But for guy who already wanted out the year before? I get why they had no interest in granting permission. If the past 20-30 years has taught us anything it should be that betting against advances in modern medicine/surgical procedures is about as wise as betting against Tom Brady.
He only did that because he’s a garbage plate fan. They tried to bring him up and he refusedRemember how Miller played three seasons in the AHL after college before becoming a regular in Buffalo? That's the path to success for Levi.

I think his development was ruined since his meditation routine was canceled by the leagueRemember when miller cried after being torched by Detroit? It’s a path to success
Not sure where to put this but speaking of garbage plates..
What would the Sabres combine up to get Pettersson from the Canucks?
His first year has had a 12,000,000 bonus already paid so I feel like Pegula can even save some real cash this year if Sabres send back 2.5m or more.
Asking for a frustrated Canucks fan.
It's ok we only gave up Reinhart for him... God this team sucks looking at the return for Sam and Jack makes me feel sick. Also why did we give up a 2nd for Malenstyn to play him 5 mins a night? Why allow a guy to develop in the AHL when you can put him in the NHL when he's not ready for it and completely destroy his career before it even begins? It's absolutely insane.
Cozens and ?

The wildest thing about this organization is it's knack for showing no patience in situations when it should be patient and being comically patient in situations when they shouldn't be patient. It's ok we only gave up Reinhart for him... I agree that his play isn’t what they’ve hoped for. But what are the grades based on?
Right. It's not smart to bet against modern medicine. And modern medicine (aside from 1 doctor) says it is not safe to play NHL hockey with an artificial disk.If the past 20-30 years has taught us anything it should be that betting against advances in modern medicine/surgical procedures is about as wise as betting against Tom Brady.

The resulting second order consequence of being absolutely despised among players throughout the league for how we handled it is a million times worse than the poor return on the trade.Pretty sure that is nowhere near the consensus that you are making it out to be.
Either way it’s hilarious that are franchise is so inept we are still discussing the ins and outs of the Eichel deal. It’s been 3 years. We lost the trade. Time to move on.
This is spot on. Too many are still not realizing it.The resulting second order consequence of being absolutely despised among players throughout the league for how we handled it is a million times worse than the poor return on the trade.
