Will fix everything
My tinfoil hat theory is that the stingy spending is because Terry wants a run at McDavid when the chance comes

Lets talk about our D pairings.

Of D-pairs with at least 100 minutes this season:

Dahlin-Joker and Sammy-Cliffy are 14th and 15th best in the entire league by xGF%

On the other hand Byram-Power are the 4th worst in the league.

If we look at actual goals
8th and 17th best
1730493016525.png

11th worst
1730493059957.png

But what does it all mean Basil?

Dahlin-Joker are playing well and getting good results
Byram-Power playing poorly, but getting good results (good luck)
Sammy-Clifton playing well but getting poor results (bad luck)

The game isn’t just about offense…and these particular metrics are not an adequate way to evaluate a defenseman, even if you didn’t have such a low sample size.

I think we’re better off with the eye test at this point. None of the defensemen are having amazing seasons so far, and some of them are disappointing when compared to expectations

I think Quinn pulls himself out of whatever is going on still
I do too, but not sure it’ll be this season.

Wish I could just move on from our GM when I'm disappointed in him....

all jokes aside our doctors knew his shoulder was shot and thats a primary reason or so I believe.
They also didn't want to give Eichel his desired surgery and then he went on to win a Stanley Cup.

So your point is that we should’ve kept Savoie because our doctors suck then?
The point is our doctors don't know their head from their ass because Eichel went and got his surgery done and then won a Stanley Cup and hasn't lost any bit of form.

I don’t like Terry or the interior of this org but I wasn’t giving a guy who demanded a trade an unproven surgery option on an NHL player while we were on the hook for 80 million dollars

You dont think he wins the cup if he got the surgery recommended by the Sabres Drs?

xGF% takes both offense and defense into account the same way that GF% does.

It’s the ratio between expected goals for and expected goals against.

Any hockey stat displayed in % is the ratio for vs against.

Most sports medicine dr said this was very risky surgery for pro athletes and the risk if they get hit again.

Great he made it out ok bu tg odds were against him

Remember when miller cried after being torched by Detroit? It’s a path to success
Remember how Miller played three seasons in the AHL after college before becoming a regular in Buffalo? That's the path to success for Levi.

and that's the path to lose him for nothing in the coming expansion draft

Basically, we'd have given up Reinhart for a low first round pick

It’s interesting because I wonder if a few games are tanking OP and Bo. Feels like they’re either great or rough and no in between.
I think it’s the other way around. A few games where they helped generate goals or were on the ice for goals scored has skewed them into the good for some posters.

Among our 3 d-pairs their on ice stats are ….

The worst at generating scoring chances
The worst at preventing scoring chances
The worst at actual goals allowed per 60mins
The best at goal scored per 60mins

xGF/60
Dahlin/Joker - 2.82
Sammy/Clifton - 2.82
Power/Byram - 1.87

xGA/60
Dahlin/Joker - 2.22
Sammy/Clifton - 2.51
Power/Byram - 2.83

xGF%
Dahlin/Joker - 56%
Sammy/Clifton - 53%
Power/Byram - 40%

GA/60
Dahlin/Joker - 1.4
Sammy/Clifton - 3.28
Power/Byram - 3.32

GF/60
Power/Byram - 4.27
Dahlin/Joker - 3.27
Sammy/Clifton - 2.19

GF%
Dahlin/Joker - 70%
Power/Byram - 56%
Sammy/Clifton - 40%

OZS%
Dahlin/Joker - 61%
Power/Byram - 60%
Sammy/Clifton - 30%

The odds *ARE* against him.

The actual surgery is no riskier than the alternative.

The risk lies in playing a full NHL career with an artificial disk vs a fusion. The doctors know the fusion is safe long term for an NHL player, but they do not know if the artificial disk can withstand multiple years of NHL level hits. The consensus among doctors is that they do not believe it can, and that disk failure would have catastrophic consequences, potentially paralysis or death.
