Detroit: Edvinsson and Cossa
Minnesota: Wallstedt and Lambos
Nashville: Svechkov and Zachary L'Heureux
Columbus: Johnson, Sillinger, Ceulemans

There is absolutely the need to be a dick because you have been a dick all night. If you dont like the picks who the f*** cares. Steve Yzerman and the scouting staff know more than anyone on this board.
And yah there have been plenty of times when I havent like picks but you know what I am not a scout.
In the last few weeks Yzerman has shored up 2 big holes in the lineup
LD and in Goal
We added a top 4 LD and a calder finalist goalie. Tonight we added a potential top pairing LD and a potential starting goalie.

Minnesota did get good value for their picks but picking Wallstedt at 6th and Lambos at 15th is terrible value. Most people would have been all over Detroit say they really reached.

Wait 5 years or so and then have a fit and bitch if you are proven to be right. Rest assured a lot of us will remember what you said about Cossa and Edvisson tonight. If they turn out like Yzerman hopes we will remind you of the shit you said tongiht.

I'd like this post if I could, but I really liked those other 3 drafts outside of ours, they would be the first 3 I would list as well.

My comment wasn't about anything other than you making a shitty comment about a player developing a life threatening ailment. I could care less about you not agreeing with my preference in players at the draft.

Are you serious? Posting some gifs and memes and being disappointed about not getting the guy you wanted is not being a dick. He was adding some levity to the situation. Im happy that you are content with lapping up the Stevie Y scraps, but people are allowed to express their opinions without being attacked.

I'm not in love with Johnson at 5 and think that Edvinsson or Clarke should have been their pick after losing Jones. But Sillinger at 12 (technically at 11, where his dad was drafted by Detroit) and Ceulemans were great choices.

EDIT: Almost forgot about Svechkov and L'Heureux. I don't think L'Heureux develops into anything better than a 2nd/3rd line tweener but he'll be a scrappy one that's hard to play against. The kind of guy you hate on the other team but wish was on yours.

And I know people are loving the Cossa pick but man...I just hate missing out on Svechkov. That is a guy who I think we'll look at 3 years from now and ask ourselves why we skipped over him.

Besides the issue with the fact this was really really recent, the fact he asked not to be drafted as part of his penance makes this a pretty shitty move. Kid would have been draft eligible next year, where he could have shown he's grown from being a dumbshit.
 
Yzerman gives credit to Al Murray for Vasi. Pretty sure Stevie has said that before but do people actually know that?

Who gives a f***? That's Montreal's choice. It's their pick.
This kid is in a pressure cooker the likes NONE of us have ever seen.
Marc Bergevin understands that more than you or I.
And in six weeks, this kid might be just fine being a Canadiens pick.

For all we know, the kids' agent told him to put it out there - knowing full well the request would fall on deaf ears - but knowing it would win him sympathy.

Bourgault is a very good swiss army knife , middle 6 player and I'd be glad to have him in our pool...

...But what the hell was Holland thinking trading back when Wallstedt was still on the board? And when the team's best goalie is 39 years old on a 2 year contract?!

That's just Ben Simmons passing on an easy dunk right there.

But we passed on Eklund, I can't cheer up....

Eklund is gonna be the best player out of this draft. Let's see what Edvinsson can do. Yeah he skates well, but if he can't handle the puck we're screwed.

If he was in Canada or the United States he'd be facing felony charges for making and distributing child pornography. His luck was only that he was in Sweden when he did this. This isn't trivial at all.

I just chuckle at the fact that they could have done this in the 6th or 7th round, but they did it in the first.

Ballsy move for sure, I was genuinely shocked, but like....do this tomorrow in round 6 lol

My guess is Montreal knows other teams are going to be in on this kid.

Say 15 teams think he's a first round talent?
How many of those GMs do think are going to pass up first round talent when he's available?
