If the Rangers do move Kreider and the return is less than that, hot take central and maybe rightfully so.

Yeah, but probably not with the idea that they could be in the teens and 40s. That's a big jump for imagining the pick could be, say, 26th and 57th.

I’m not convinced that teams view a potential 19th pick as having different value than a potential 26th.

Per Dreger, the full conditions on the picks in the Pageau trade are as follows; 1st in 2020 (if pick is top 3, it defers to 2021), 2020 2nd and conditional 3rd in 2020 if the Islanders reach the Stanley Cup Final this year.

So essentially a 1st and a 2nd for Ottawa for Pageau.

Depends how deep they think the draft is. In this case, I've read there's 40 1st round talents, so likely not much different

Well trading from 26 to 19 probably costs you at least a second, probably more. So it's worth at least that much to them.

Then you factor on the risk, however low, that the Islanders actually miss the playoffs and it starts to become a difference maker over other offers.

I'm feeling a huge disappointment coming on considering whats happened so far.

I really hope it isnt the case.

With the picks being thrown around I want 2 firsts for Kreider plus a very good prospect + . f*** it. I Greed.

I can't imagine Boston in on Kreider now unless they are really willing to part with Studnicka or Beecher after the Pageau deal to the islanders. JG has to get a first plus

Kreider will fetch a f*cking kings ransom now. This is good news.

Krieder's value is way too steep for anyone to pay. Based on returns so far, it's a player who can fill in now, a prospect, and two firsts. Nobody's paying that, even if anyone has that to give up.

I would also hope that Gorton doesn't take less just to do so.

I mean Pageau is a nice player and a Ranger killer but he's no Kreider.

Let's spitball for a second and say the Avs and Rangers end up connecting. Let's even say Jost is part of the package. With salary retained, you could be looking at something as minimal as $1.5m difference.

But again, the Rangers aren't going to do the Avs any favors in that regard. It's going to come with a price.

For sure. I'd wait a few hours. Pretty sure a bidding war will ensue.

I’m just thinking... like a 2C in a buyers market garnered a 20th and Lemieux. A 3C in a sellers market? 1+2 was the minimum I would expect.
