I am a Canucks fan. I have no bias here. Except maybe wanting Tanev moved to Toronto but I'm just soaking it in from a distance. Once things settle and emotions are resolved you guys will find out whats right. A D man would have helped whether that be Tanev, Green, or some other older d man with upside who could help stabilize the load and help insulate the kids. Zaitsev cost you guys like 2 games early on. He was on the ice for nearly every goal against.

Your organization has a delusional asking price. Kick rocks.

**** you negative nancies.

I’m proud of this team and their season. For 12+ years before the past two seasons, I knew the Leafs were never going to come close to the playoffs every single year and I was still a fan of the team because I knew things would turn around. I’m not going to be disappointed about losing in the playoffs because I was dying for the Leafs to make the playoffs for over a decade. **** happens.

If I can be a fan of this team and watch every game during the JFJ, Burke, Maurice, Ron Wilson, Carlyle, and Horachek era, I can suffer through a bit of pain right now.

It’s not going to be a rapid turnaround. It doesn’t work like that. Winning this series would have been great but it doesn’t change the overall outlook of this team.

I feel for Jake Gardiner. That 5th goal wasn’t on him...he still held Debrusk to a weak shot. Andersen gave up a soft goal there.

Overall, this series exposes the few holes we still have on the team. We need one defenseman as good as Rielly to ease the minutes on the rest of the D before him. Babcock needs to learn that his young players are way better than the vets he trusts. Frederik Andersen needs to be way better and not fold like a cheap tent.

In the end, the Leafs lost to a better team. Simple as that. They weren’t good enough to win. When will they be good enough to win a playoff series? I don’t know.

I do know that making hasty decisions is how you turn a good thing into a bad thing. Look at the Oilers. Do we want to a **** team despite having a guy like McDavid?

Don’t talk of trading everyone who played bad in this series. Instead try to discuss what the Leafs can do to be better.

In the end, just remember, the losses right now make the eventual wins in the future that much sweeter. It’s not going to be easy but I know the Leafs are going to win the Cup in the near future. They will make the city proud.
People just like you since 1968. Just sayin'

People say we're a young team not a lot of experience etc etc, but we did acquire Marleau, Plekanec and Hainsey, this trio has tons of playoff experience and it didn't seem to help one bit.

When do we sit down and seriously start talking about this teams remarkable ability to collapse no matter who is on this roster?

May it be the 2013 edition or the 2018 entirely different roster or any team in between those years. Getting a lead and then blowing is has been a trademark for this franchise for many many years now..and to be honest I've never seen it to this degree with any other franchise in this league.

Is there something in the air in Toronto? is it something about the blue/white jerseys? its perplexing.
I don’t know, those 3 vets were probably our strongest players all series. It was the young guns core that mostly disappeared.

You're right, if it weren't for Andersen we win the series in 6. He was unacceptably bad in games 2 and 7, and bad in game 1 too.

Leafs fans need to stop coddling the goalies. .887 in a series is not NHL caliber goaltending, there's just no world in which that's acceptable. And his regular season numbers were just average, so don't give me this "we wouldn't have made the playoffs without him" bull****.
Go back and watch game 4 and tell me how many times the guys in front of him left him hanging. 2 X 2 on 1 goals and then we played like **** the rest of the game, Dont give me that **** Andersen may of had a slow start to the season but sure as **** stepped his game up.

Given his play tonight it was probably Gardiners. Either he did it himself or someone took it off him.

its just not cool throwing away the logo in the garbage of a team that pays one million dollars; we don't know who threw that; i was just saying that it is pathetic whoever did that

I'm surprised no one mentioned yet how the leafs are gonna pick Tavares this off season yet.
I missed those guys too. But even they had troubles in game 7s on the road.

They lost to NJ 5-1 and Philly 7-1 in those game 7s.

Also 6 shots on goal all game(remember that one?)in an elimination game in NJ back in 2000.
Those were painful years looking back, they would always make the playoffs but run into great teams such as devils and they would trade away every top prospect or 1st round pick tonget there in the process

Our team is going to be SOOOOOO fast next year.

If Bozak or a 3rd line C isn't signed:

Hyman - Matthews - Marner
Johnsson - Nylander - Kapanen
Marleau - Kadri - Brown

Need to make some defensive adjustments or a trade and Dermott needs to be in the top 4.

I think it would help if Hainsey played om the 3rd pairing + high pk mins because he looked tired out this series and lost quite a few battles. Or at least play him less.

One thing I think we will see next year is less reliance on our secondary guys (Komarov, Hainsey, Polak, etc.) and more reliance on the big 3 + Rielly. Next season is the time to do it as theyre ready to be the full time go to guys (especially Matthews as a defensive/2-way player).

Honestly, Hyman is a warrior but he shouldn't be anywhere near Matthews.

But, at the same time, if he isn’t playing like a maniac this season they may not make the playoffs. Florida ended up as close to Leafs as the lLeafs were toBoston. Freddie and McBackup stole at least 10 points this. I know it’s their job.

Having said that, I concur he may not be the answer. I hope one of the Marlies goalies gets a chance next season.

Id love a guy like Tanev, but his injury concerns are the issue. You also shouldn't expect anything from our core for him which Vancouver wouldn't like. Best leafs could do for Tanev is a 1st+... None of the big 3 or Liljegren will get moved for Tanev.

I am still really pissed we didn't trade the vets for assets. I have already stood by this, that is a MAJOR fail in my opinion. None of them helped us win ****

It's why teams like Tampa and Boston are always stocked up. They have a plan and you either fit it or traded.
Right there with you. Lets be honest, this team is making the playoffs with our without JVR. Probably could have made it without Bozak too. Which is better, losing a heartbreaking and having a core piece walk for nothing, Or a first-round exit but we have some pieces for the future?

Obviously, this is all in hindsight. If we lost in the first round while trading JVR people might be livid saying why would we trade a 30 goal scorer.
