My problem is that no Vegas player really challenged Lowry on the ice after the hit. That's what you would expect. Instead they wait for a shift change and put out their designated fighter/goon to make Lowry pay. That staged retribution without emotion in the moment is just a coaching tactic. It's not a good look for Vegas to have all their players standing around and waiting for the coach to send Reaves out to settle scores.

I hated the hit that got Lowry a suspension, but didn’t have a problem with the one in the Vegas game. Tuch (?) put himself in a vulnerable position by ducking just when Lowry was about to hit. Lowry needs to be more careful when hitting shorter players but it didn’t look at all nefarious to me.

How do I know what?
That Galley is biased?
Because I have ears and hear the things he says.

Why does your want have a wan't in it?
Is that like want it?
:sarcasm:

How do you know that "He literally creamed his pants during the Ducks series". Literally, as in actually, really. Then, "don't tell me, I don't want to know", with an extraneous ' in want.

Galley is a dick and not good at his job. No argument from me on that.

1000% ^ this boys.

I use to love fighting in hockey but have soured on it for a number of reasons in the 2.0 era (side effects being being so much more evident, DH, appointment fights with zero passion.....the list goes on).

Last night was very different for me. The sequence of events that led to the Lowry Reeves fight triggered emotions in me that are more primal. No matter what my mind tells me my heart loved that fight. I don’t think Lowry intended to hurt Tuch but he did and the results/optics looked bad. Nobody on the Ice on Vegas challenged Lowry at the moment because it wasn’t quite that flagrant that people noticed instantly. Gallant was obviously pissed by the outcome and did what he had to by sending Reeves out to challenge Lowry which (rightly or wrongly) is how hockey has dealt with things historically. Maurice saw it and gave Lowry the out. The moment of the night was when Lowry waved him off and said, nope I am willing to man up for my actions and I will accept the challenge from the toughest guy in the league. That is a moment I won’t forget. It was a clean fair fight and shockingly Lowry held his own.

The team was different from that point forward. Usually fighting doesn’t seem to change much but last night that was not the case. That reminded me a bit of when Malkin new he owed Wheeler one after his cheap shot he he accepted the challenge. I admired Malkin for that. I am sure Reeves (I know who cares) and his Vegas teammates respect that Adam stood up too.

That was a moment.
Over the past 1.5 years this team seems like it needs some controversy or physicality to get it going. I’ve been saying this since the beginning of last year. Without it, we almost seem bored and going through the motions. Inject something that forces you to get angry and wow what a change.

I hope someone on the team recognizes that and they can start to make games physical again. It’s always when they’ve played their best.

I only saw very few parts of that game but the ot winner was incredible. Laine’s rush and pass was just incredible and KC’s finish was just as incredible. Wow. Give these guys An opportunity to be creative and watch.

If Gallant didn't make it so obvious why he sent Reaves out I would have no problem with what he did, but even the officials stepped in they knew what was going on, didn't do anything about it though, if the league had any balls the league would call Gallant onto the map. New car smell has left that franchise and the NHL doesn't need to hold their hands anymore.

Sounds like Laine is off the PP1 permanently...

I don't have problem with taking Laine off from PP1 if that's the only way to replace Wheeler with Ehlers, but just then make PP2 the real number 1 PP. Against Vegas PP2 was apparently PP3. Also no Roslovic on PP2??? Stupid.

Laine was also playing on right side on PP2, which is also more than a bit odd.

1. Little to take faceoffs and then play in front of the net
2. Ehlers to make the zone entry & and make a right-side shooting threat
3. Laine to keep left side and shoot the puck
4. Pionk to quickly move the puck
5. Roslovic to make additional plays

Should be much better than PP1 with Wheeler, Morrissey and Perreault.

Didn’t see any PP’s last night. Maurice took Laine off? That had better be injury related.

I am not a fan of ELL but just look at their corsi! They absolytely manhandled, ragdolled and dominated Stastny's line and all others. Little 5on5 corsi for% 70.59, Laine 77.78 and Ehlers 80% !!!
They played about 10 min against Statstny line and 5 min against Karlsson line.

OTOH CSW was pummeled badly - but they managed to make the tying goal when it mattered.
Bottom line is that ELL was absolute corsi monster. Unbelievable!

It's a fire drill Get out leave Vegas asap! Another stolen game!.

On a serious note we rode the storm in the 2nd period. Sometimes you need luck.

I thought we had a very strong 3rd period our forechecking was great. Scheifele finally woke up.

What a pass by Laine to Connor. Connor is heating up! No Training Camp No Problem.

Don't know why people are calling this a stolen game. Jets were full value for the win.

Wish I could have seen the game last night. Sounds like a beauty to have watched.

I love that a lot of players seem to be maturing and finding their games. Just get through these injuries and the Buff situation and we can be a real force imo.
Agreed. These last 2 games might go a long way to galvanize the team. 2 very different wins B2B where not often you are going to come out with 4 points. We will see if there are any missteps, but I'm expecting a dominating effort back home on Tuesday.

A lot of talk about identity on this team, especially with Buff out of the lineup, goes out the window when Lowry stands up for himself against Vegas's toughest player. He's emerging as a leader this year, and the mean streak is a message for other teams thinking they can push us around. On defense I like the way Kulikov and Bitetto weren't afraid to throw big hits either, out there. They controlled the tempo by slowing down the neutral zone, something that was a struggle the game before.
