Maybe it was just me but I always look forward to the Winter Olympics much more so than the summer but this one was a letdown. Don't think its anything the Russians did. I just feel like overall the enthusiasm was not their like I would expect, the skiing and snowboarding was a big disappointment as it just seemed like none of them were every in real control for about 90% of the events. The hockey was ok but it was not the best I would have expected. Even watching the figure skating I just kind of felt it did not match up to past years. To add to that the fact that so many venues were just not close to being filled kinda sucks to see.

All in all the best thing to watch in these Olympics was Canada play the semi's and finals. Shows just pure dominance from a team in particular watching the defense being absolutely flawless was a awesome thing to watch.

Yeah an overall good job by the host. But a boring and uneventful Olympic games. Not a single story caught my attention.

Loved the stadium with the flags and the score visible to those outside.

There are no "best" Olympic games. Instead, each one has its own unique venues, charms, athletes, and defining moments. We'll see what Pyeongchang, South Korea brings to the table in 2018.

That being said, I was surprised how un-Russian these games came across to the viewer. For the Winter Olympics in Russia one almost expected a Siberian feel or snow covered Moscow image. In its place we get the balmy coastal resort town of Sochi.

you don't know what embarrassingly bad means if you haven't seen finland's opening ceremony for the athletics world championships in 2005. we had a gandalf-ripoff flying around with a time machine.

lols thats the kind of bad that might be so bad it's good

These olympics seemed fake with very little emotion or "real" moments. Almost like robots. At least in Vancouver, London, Athens, it felt different.

Not much atmosphere though, in Vancouver the crowds etc made it much better. It's better when in the west as more people travel to the event.

Other than the lackluster atmosphere it was a pretty good event overall.

being a night person the event times were perfect for me games starting at midnight FTW usually by like 4-5am when i goto bed most events were done for the day

damn i watched alot of olympics this time

Despite Hockey, these Olympics were a huge success. Very proud of the job our athletes, government, volunteers, construction workers, engineers and the whole country did. No regrets.

Well done. Especially with a cloud of terrorism hovering overhead.

The atmosphere seemed a little lacking, but athletic facilities, planning and ceremonies were better than other recent olympics.

 this comment plus that video, my sides

Congrats to Russia on an amazing Olympic Games. The facilities were incredible and it definitely hurt a little to see that flame extinguished. The weeks following the winter olympics are always depressing. :(

After all the media whining about how nothing was ready and this was going to be a disaster, it ended up going off well, as most reasonable people expected it to. Good for Russia and good for the Olympics games. Can't wait for the next round. I hope NHLers will be there.

Thank you Russia! Awesome games. Amazing facilities.
Despite others, I personally liked the atmosphere. Cheering for all ATHLETES (not just home athletes) was amazing. I haven't heard a single booing or whistling, which is very nice. Russian hospitality was generous.

Overall I would give this games 8.5 out of 10. The only reason it isn't 10 out of 10 cuz I hear Russian people can't afford to actually go to Sochi and enjoy Olympics in their own country. Very sad

Thanks again and good job

id say one of the best run games ever just too many half empty venues where were all the people to watch live?

their half-pipe was bad for snowboarders but other than that all the facilities were great

oh and the hockey ice seemed winter classic bad

Spectacular show, Russia! :handclap:

That's how it's done.

I personally wanted to see their hockey team fare (a little) better, but overall a stellar performance this year!
