Thank You Babcock

Zach is the hardest forchecker on the team, responsible defensively, and always gives it his all even when he's playing on a torn knee.

He would be a favourite of any coach in the league.

Agreed, how can a player that gives 110% every game and shift and contributes in many areas be viewed as a negative.

The other game the colour guys doing the Leafs game said during the broadcast that Hyman is #1 in the league in winning oZone puck battles and creating turnovers. Not sure what analytical stat they were quoting directly, but it would be a stat any coach would love from a player with an aggressive forecheck and a high compete level.

Man, the media is really trying to dig for dirt on Babcock. I don’t like it. It’s not sitting well with me.

He lost the room and got replaced. It happens. No need to dig for dirt and make mountains out of molehills.

Well frankly for a guy like Babs he should have known better, and that's very disappointing. Still, I'll pay homage to this thread and credit Babs for assisting in guys like Hyman, Rielly, Kadri, and Bozaks development, and for drawing in some good-named talent over the years particularly from oversees where his name and credibility were selling factors in drawing UFAs.

For what? For being an overated awful coach and an egotistical aggroant prick and a terrible human being? This guy litreally thinks he is some messiah and hockey god that is bigger than the game when in reality he is a terrible coach, arguably one of the worst in NHL. Babcock lovers be like he has a stanley cup with stacked red wings team from 30 years ago and gold medal with team canada lmao.

I for one would like to thank him for his service. I know it's late but thank you for the effort you put into this team. We beat regular season win records and for getting us into the playoffs for the first time in 13 years under a full season, and for 2 consecutive years after.

I wish him the best in the future.

Thanks coach!!
Was pretty pumped when they announced he was coming to the Leafs. Thanks for getting us back into the playoffs. Sure we couldnt beat Washington or Boston X2 in the 1st round but it was good hockey.

I remember all the whining when he used to put Hyman with Matthews and Nylander and this place would erupt. I was and still am a supporter of Hyman and always liked that move and told people thousands of times to have patience. Now a few years later I read on here how people couldnt wait for Hyman to get back. Amazing!!!

All the doubters and there pathetic insults like "egocock" Really made you question who were the people with an actual ego Babcock or the bashers.

Sucks to read the recent story about Babcock and Marner. At this point, it is what it is

All the best in the future Babs!

Keefe's got the keys now dont screw it up.

100% this! Don't need to add more, he showed enough what a true POS he really is. And some still defend this ahole? Sure shows their character. I am too embarrassed to even call them fellow Leaf fans.

Everyone seems to be out to assassinate his character now that he is gone. The Marner thing was bad, it was definitely a mistake on his part: there you go media, move on!

If you can't respect the spirit of the thread title, don't post.

What your post should say is that if we don't agree with the OP, then don't bother posting in this thread. That's the reality of your statement and IMO, it makes no sense.

How useless and boring would forums be if every thread was moderated in that fashion?

I just don't understand this moderation tactic and I'm a long time moderator for one of the larger, busier forums in Canada

Despite his obviously authoritarian style, thanks to Babcock for breaking up the country club atmosphere at the time which was much needed.

I know folks arnt happy with him right now but guys like Kadri probably owe him a lot and he did have the most successful run of any Leafs coach since Quinn. He also seems to have had an extremely tight relationship with Rielly which saw Riels climb to the top of the league at his position.

He probably should have been replaced after last post season but it is what it is and I think we all should move on.

The team looks really exciting under Keefe so let's start cheering for the present now instead of hating on the past.

Thanks Babs, it's been a slice.

What is the meanest thing you've ever done... now imagine if that was advertised on the news for the whole world to see... I bet you would look like a pretty shitty human too... I'd say you and most have done worse things than that

There are plenty of other places on these boards to complain about how Babcock was as a person or coach. This thread is not for that, though. We're just asking that people don't flood their negative comments in a thread that is meant to be the exact opposite.

edit: spelling is hard

You voluntarily wandered into a "Thank You" thread. Are you honestly unclear on what that meant? If the sentiment is not to your liking, you're free to click elsewhere and participate in the hundreds of other threads where debate and disagreement are welcome. While in this thread, your one obligation is to respect the OP's theme and your fellow fans who wish to participate in it.

You can't dig if there is nothing to dig up.

When the Marner story broke what did he or we expect .

Now one of Babcock's assistants from Detroit ( Bill Peter's ) is in hot water.

Well I disagree completely, but it's your rules...
