Canada is officially up to 35 (Men's Ranking)

I believe that they could go as high as 32 with 2 wins and the 2 teams above Russia losing their matches against tough competition.

Based on the last few announcements, the squad announcement for CONCACAF Nations League could happen any time between now and early next week (for the home and away against Suriname).

With Millar out there is a gaping hole on the left side, especially against a team playing low block.

I don't know if Jesse will be tempted to play Davies further up. Shaff is best against teams susceptible to the counter or high line.

If he doesn't, we could see Hoilett recalled.

I think TFC allowed him the courtesy of resigning but the drone scandal was likely an issue that Keith Pelley was not willing to deal with as TFC tries to rebuild.
I wasn't that impressed with his results this season but that lineup was a dog's breakfast. Nevertheless, the drone scandal was inexcusable and grounds for dismissal.

It will be interesting to see where they go with this.

Sartini is available and knows the Canadian/MLS landscape well. Tommy Wheeldon JR and
Bobby Smyrniotis are 6 years into successfull CPL manager careers and will likely be keen on making the jump. Are they ready? Tough to know.

Curious to see how it all plays out.

Do you guys know what the conmon denominator was when MLSE teams had success? One guy.

Tim Liewike.

MLSE brought him in to turn the teams around and he did exactly that. Raptors and TFC won championships for fukks sake. Then his wife decided she hated Canada and he left.

Now MLSE is back to being run like it was before. Aware back to square one. Will the new CEO have any better vision? I kinda doubt it.

John Herdman resigns as Toronto FC head coach - The Athletic

‘Questions remained over role in Canada spying scandal’

Analysis from Joshua Kloke

Even with the recent publication of an independent report that concluded some of the coaching staff of Canada’s women’s national soccer team spied on the New Zealand during the 2024 Paris Olympics, Herdman’s role within Canada Soccer’s spying scandal remained in question. The independent report stated a “disciplinary process” was underway to examine “potential violations of the Canada Soccer Code of Conduct and Ethics by the former head coach of the men’s national team”.

It’s believed Herdman could have been prevented from coaching in Canada Soccer-sanctioned competitions such as the Canadian Championship, which Toronto FC compete in. And so resigning from his position hardly absolves him of any guilt, but only suggests that Herdman and Toronto FC knew questions about his role in the scandal and possible repercussions would continue.

The reality as well is that Herdman didn’t necessarily have the full backing from Toronto FC ownership as part of a full rebuild.
Herdman inspired TFC to more energetic play early in the 2024 season but he looked unable to get the most out of the team’s stars as the season wore on. If you’re TFC and you’re looking to take this rebuild seriously, that includes taking a hard look at the coaching staff.

The issue of the club’s poor culture was front and centre to end the season. If there were any questions from within TFC management and ownership about whether Herdman would have been able to inspire a healthier culture within the team, it’s possible he might have been dismissed before the season anyway.

Could it be strategic (i.e. They know he won't be picked so they get to protect someone else) or are they just hoping to get rid of him?

The club's a mess and I didn't watch much at all this season thanks to Apple TV.
He won't get picked but they wouldn't be too upset if he were (it would be a free out).

How many new Teams are joining?
Just San Deigo who already has Chucky Lozano coming in as their big name.

Yeah i think it might be a safety play. Although I don't think management complains if he is scooped up in the fdraft either.
