They needed the savings from Bickell just to fill out the lineup. If they do re-sign Shaw it will be a team-friendly deal, because they need to save money for Panarin next offseason.

Shaw's cap hit for this year was 2M, and I was reading articles about this trade yesterday which were suggesting Shaw would be looking at 3-4M deal, and that the Hawks want to re-sign him.

They definitely need cap savings for Panarins deal, but TT will be on ELC this next year and could be probably re-signed for less than Shaw and I'd say he'll be the better player next year/longterm.

But I'm very happy for TT.

I don't know about that. I read in article yesterday after the trade that Shaw is likely looking in the $3.5M range, and with the Hawks trading Bickell, they just gave Shaw an in to ask that much. Shaw is not worth $3.5M. He's a great agitator, but I don't think he's worth that much and sacrificing the rest of your team for.

I'm curious on how this trade came into being. Who approached who?

Did Francis approach Bowman and say "Hey, we've got Aho and Saarela, what's it going to take to get Teravainen?"

Or did Bowman approach Francis and say "Hey, you enjoy taking our players to help us free up cap space, what's it going to take for you to take Bickell?"

Thanks dude. Here's to an I-40 Stanley Cup final in 2018.

I'd be ecstatic if that happened, but can you hurry it up a bit and get there in 2017 with us? I'm tired of waiting for our Cup.

I've always had a soft spot for the Canes. My cousins lived in Raleigh for many years and I couldn't help but love the Canes during their cup run growing up. Besides Boston, they are my top pick in the East. Always rooting for you all, except when you play the Preds, obviously.

Loved having tarheelhockey on our bandwagon.

If there is room on the Canes bandwagon, I'd love to hop on board more here. You all seem to have a great community. My brother and I will be coming that way for a game sometime this year for our annual hockey trip. Gotta get some BBQ.

Then go ahead and win yours in 2017! It's gonna take us a little while.

We're always happy for more folks to share barbecue with. Not sure what "BBQ" is though.

Someday I'm going to go to a Predators game in Nashville. Maybe I will find my future wife there? All I know is that it's on my road trip list. Would love to visit Memphis too and take in a game at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville.

I think the most time I've ever spent in Tennessee was 4 days at Pigeon Forge, which was like if Myrtle Beach meets the Mountains. Not bad, but cheesy as hell.

I'm just gonna leave these Finnish articles about Teuvo's thoughts here, and you can if you will run them through G. Translate for your information and enjoyment and maybe post any awesome translated nonsense you might get:

"Teravainen excited about Carolina's Finn contracts: 'Heartwarming'"

http://m.iltalehti.fi/nhl/2016061621739789_nh.shtml

"Surprising phone call stopped Teuvo Teravainen: "It was just a normal day otherwise"

http://m.iltalehti.fi/nhl/2016061621739648_nh.shtml

From article 2:

It is certainly disappointing, of course, that the other gang is willing to deposit you out, but then again the other hand, is the second gang wanted you to. After all, it's kind of a positive thing and keep anyway having all of the positive here. There will continue and be excited.

I love the Preds, I'm about 6 hours from Nashville and 4 hours from Raliegh, so they are naturally my Western Team.

Looks like he's having no problems fitting into his new gang

Somewhere within the translation process, everything turns into a plot for a TV crime show.

Chicago had made a trade with Teräväinen and Bryan Bickell was sent to Carolina charge against shifts.

I'm a bit worried of the contracts on Finns now. "Center or pier?" and everything.

Tolchinsky will be 22, turning 23 in the middle of 17-18, Roy will be 20 turning 21. It's not crazy to think either or both will be in the lineup at that point.

Roy doesn't turn 20 until next February. Tolchinsky just learned how to play big boy North American hockey around late January, early February of this season. Both those guys are continuing to develop, but neither is any where near ready for the big club.

Every time I go to Nashville, Jacks is a must stop place. I just really like the whole atmosphere there.

Though: Eastern NC Pulled Pork then Memphis Ribs. Rendevous in Memphis is awesomely

Acme Feed and Seed is one of my favorites at the bottom of Broadway. Cool atmosphere with solid live music to boot. Upstairs lounge is fun.

I love walking down Broadway and poking my head in doors to hear whose playing and if I like it I go in.

Though I like the music on Beale better in Memphis.

I saw better music on a Friday morning at a mostly deserted bar in Nashville than I've ever seen here (okay that's a bit of a hyperbole). The fact of the matter is that you've got so many talented musicians in that town that the worst of them are awesome.

You're getting a good one in Teravainen. Very disappointed to see him leave. I think he's going to really thrive there if he's utilized properly and allowed to just be himself. Look forward to seeing how he does out there.

Bickell is who he is. Maybe a change of scenery will be good for him but I suspect he'll still be the same inconsistent guy he has been other than his contract year.

It's nice to see a post from a hawks fan not saying something along the lines of "TT is trash, offense stagnated, he wont reach his potential, and he is overrated".:sarcasm:

Aside from that im pretty excited to see this kid play. I'm a little curious by what you mean by "utilized properly". Was he not playing a normal role for the hawks or was it his position?

How long till RF trades Jordan and Skinner for Towes and Kane at 50% retained each for Kings 1sts and their 2nd?

He's just pulling off miracles right now. Lol.

Not much of pp time and he was used a lot in different roles as he was able to do it.

Hello there Canes fans. I'm hereby humbly announcing myself as a Finnish bandwagoner for your team, now that you got Teuvo and Aho. (Saarela I'm a little unfamiliar with). For full disclosure, I have previously badmouthed your logo as being one of the worst in the league. Hope we can get past that. I love the alternative flag logo though!

I'm already dreaming of a Aho-Teuvo-X line.

All will be forgiven, once you get the logo tattoo.
