So goal is to trade a 3rd liner ufa for a top 6 forward? Is the goal a top 6 forward prospect?

Also 3 in 15 so far so just wondering what the + would be.
Not all players are valued the same. Some teams covet the power forward skillset. So, the hope is that someone who has some depth and redundancy in the skill department would be willing to trade a creative 50 point guy for a player who's 6'2, will give you 200+ hits, fast, fights, defensively responsible, can play center, can kill penalties, strong 5on5... and scored 18 goals and 40 points last year.

UFA for UFA would work, like Frederic for Vatrano. Sign and trade would work.

He is off to a very slow start, like the whole team. Everyone on Boston has struggled out of the gate, including the centers Frederic has been playing with, but lots of Bruins fans are piling on Frederic, Coyle, Carlo...

Can he play center or is he just a wing? I feel like he only plays wing but could be wrong.

I don’t think he has ever played more than a few weeks at a time in the middle. He is more noticeable in the middle, but I don’t think he is better there, if that makes sense. He doesn’t really have the puck skills to make you want him more noticeable.

On a scale of Tanner Jeannot to David Clarkson I wonder how much he implodes on whatever brilliant team inevitably gives up the farm for him.

This seems like a pretty good way of describing it.

Basically, my impression is, he's better when he has the puck on his stick less.

But he can play Center and i think there's still value in that. But to me, he's a guy you'd want to pencil in as a Winger who can play Center. He's got the tools to do it and he's reasonably disciplined positionally. So if you need that at some point, he can do it. You're just gonna get more out of him if you free him up to play as a Winger where he can just sorta charge around and be big and not have to make a lot of crucial decisions distributing the puck.

Then why this rumour? Of course teams will want him, if he’s available, as a UFA come july 1. He’s a very good player. Isn’t there an implication here the Bruins will trade him before the TDL? Which is nonsense, of course because they think of themselves as a contender, and those teams don’t sell.

Two years in a row and no return on your FA, DeBrusk and now Freddy, not good. I also failed to mention the loss of Hathaway, Bertuzzi, and Orlov the year before. That is a lot of assets out and no return.
The year before they went all in for Bergeron and krejci’s last year with Boston.

He's nowhere near as tough or skilled as other fanbases think he is. Sweeney will rip off some GM at the deadline and watch him go soft in April like Garnet Hathaway

The Bruins may not make a playoff push if they don't add some offensive creativity.

They're not trading Frederic to be sellers, they're trading him to change the makeup of the lineup.
that's a tough trade to come out ahead with. Maybe you get a guy like Roslovic on the Canes who is scoring goals this season but do you really think the B's are better with a player like that because that's the sort of player you end up with. Maybe a struggling prospect but what team gives up an obviously better player with any term on his deal for a bottom six guy who needs a new deal? Presumably if Boston is out of it at the TDL they'd just take the best offer for him and move one. Maybe he garners a late first or a second and a prospect if it gets to that point? At some point you expect the B's to turn it around and they'll keep him since he's seemingly a B's sort of player.
