that's a tough trade to come out ahead with. Maybe you get a guy like Roslovic on the Canes who is scoring goals this season but do you really think the B's are better with a player like that because that's the sort of player you end up with. Maybe a struggling prospect but what team gives up an obviously better player with any term on his deal for a bottom six guy who needs a new deal? Presumably if Boston is out of it at the TDL they'd just take the best offer for him and move one. Maybe he garners a late first or a second and a prospect if it gets to that point? At some point you expect the B's to turn it around and they'll keep him since he's seemingly a B's sort of player.
It doesn't have to be a guy with term for a guy without term. An Anaheim fan suggested Vatrano for Frederic. I think both fan bases would go for that and the acquired players would fill needs on both sides of the fence.

Fanbases aside (and even then we are talking about a handful of posters) why does Anaheim trade for a guy without term? My impression is whatever tradable assets they have they would move for young players and futures. In the abstract I understand your point.

Well, assumption is both sides extend the guy they get. Boston does it all the time.

This seems like a pretty good way of describing it.

Basically, my impression is, he's better when he has the puck on his stick less.

But he can play Center and i think there's still value in that. But to me, he's a guy you'd want to pencil in as a Winger who can play Center. He's got the tools to do it and he's reasonably disciplined positionally. So if you need that at some point, he can do it. You're just gonna get more out of him if you free him up to play as a Winger where he can just sorta charge around and be big and not have to make a lot of crucial decisions distributing the puck.

Sounds like a good fit for the Jets 4th line.

I am not trading Freddy for Vatrano.

I like Frederic but we need offense more than what he brings, and I think most Bruins fans would agree.
I know many are stuck on Vatrano, because of the year he had last year, but he just does not move the needle enough for me. he is also a free agent to be, and he is about 4 years older, I will pass, politely, of course.

In any case, I'm surprised that the Bruins are going to trade Frederic, he's a strong physical player but this year he's had a hard time score, he's possible to score 30+ and 40+ or what does community at HF think?

Gotcha, so good luck with the even less attractive offers you're gonna get.
No need to get all pouty. None of us, including you, have the authority to trade any of these guys.

It's not personal - Brendan Saad is a good player. It's just that Boston cannot afford to trade young players for 32 year old vets in their current situation. The cupboard is bare so any move would likely have to involve picks or a similarly young player.

This screams to me a panic move where the Bruins send Frederic + for Zegras and suddenly Terry and Frederic find chemistry and light it up for four years while Zegras infuriates the Bruins fanbase.

Hope I'm wrong, but the Bruins situation is that an entire team is underachieving and Frederic happens to be the UFA with high value.

After that cross-crease feed tonight, I'm sure some of the interested folks need a moment to allow their excitement to subside.

He also hasn't really been a strong physical player this season either. He did pick up an assist tonight though.

Has anyone on this fit that description, as a matter of fact has anyone on this team, fit any positive description.

Him getting close to 40 would be the most shocking thing since William Karlsson scored 43 in his first year with Vegas.

He's a solid PWF with a nice scoring touch and his defensive game has improved bounds, but he's a middle 6 guy at best.

Two years in a row and no return on your FA, DeBrusk and now Freddy, not good. I also failed to mention the loss of Hathaway, Bertuzzi, and Orlov the year before. That is a lot of assets out and no return.
You wanted the Bruins to instantly trade Orlov, Hathaway and Bertuzzi after trading for them at the deadline? What?

You wanted them to trade Debrusk when they were like top 3 in the entire league? What?

Where did I, say that ?

The past two games define Trent Frederic as a hockey player.

Made a nice move at the blue-line to gain the zone and make the primary assist on Coyle's goal vs. Dallas.

Then later in the game does a complete blow-by on a Dallas D-man in the defensive zone resulting in Dallas's 6th goal. Embarrassing defensive commitment, beer league level shit.

Scores two early vs. St. Louis. Late in the 2nd period takes a lazy and moronic penalty with a cross-check to the lower back of 5'10 175 Scott Perunovich. He is 6'3 200+ lb Frederic and instead of getting in there using his size/strength to win a puck battle against a much smaller player, takes a stupid lazy penalty and gives St. Louis momentum heading into the 3rd period.

Then in OT, is out on his shift way too long, looses a puck battle down in the corner and falls down, giving St. Louis the advantage back the other way and they score to win it.

Boston can't move on from this player fast enough.
