What Avs prospect do you think is fair value straight across for Lehkonen?

You don’t have one that would be available. After Byram/Newhook, there’s a huge gap in terms of talent and not much would get me excited enough to move Lehkonen and I truly doubt the first two would be on the table

You wouldn't move Lehkonen for Barron, Helleson, or Olausson? Not saying I would offer those, but surprised that you wouldn't be interested in any of those for a bottom 6 forward with only one RFA year remaining.

The big problem for Drouin trade is $$$
5.5 M in for a stanley cup contender is too much and with retention 2.75M it will cost too much in assets for a team who desire acquire him

I came to this conclusion when I saw Drouin has the extra year on his deal. I thought he was a UFA.

I mean, if he didn't then Montreal wouldn't even make the trade even if they weren't rebuilding. Why would any one ever trade an overpaid player for an overpaid player that has more term and isn't performing as well at the same position?

way too much. mid 30s players dont go for that very often.

This is just golden. Again a poster that knows nothing about the player and thinks he is 10yrs older. I didnt know a 26yr old 1yr from RFA, on a good contract is "mid 30s". Thanks for contributing to the thread! You got 1 more post-count atleast.

Drouin is one player I am legit surprised has done so poorly in the league. He just oozed high end skill when he came into the league.

He had magic hands, and great vision. His passing ability is very good as well. However, it looks like he avoids the areas where he could use his hands for the biggest impact (in front of the net, for example). Several coaches are saying he does unbelievable things in practice, but they just can't get him to duplicate them in real game situations. I think he is shying away from the physicality

Why all the BS from you?
He'd be your top LW point wise and doing it without the aid of McDavid or Drai.
Drouin's future with the Montreal Canadiens was connected to Bergevin since he's been fired new management Gorton , Hughes will likely buyout Drouin.

he's a frustrating player to say the least, at the time of the trade I was hyped as he dominated the Q, had NHL skating, speed, playmaking. But it didn't take long to see how TB fleeced us as I really liked Sergachev and ended up not being able to stand Drouin as he's the kind of player I dislike the most, to be that skilled but to have so little to show for it. He's so soft, so weak defensively but put him with some high end snipers where he doesn't have to be the guy and I still think he could put up 70 pts just not with the Habs.

Lehkonen is a good top 9 winger . He will be in demand if the habs want to trade him.

i don’t understand the hate on Kulak. He is a fine 5th-6 defender and can add depth to a contender

Drouin, it’s another story. He has to be sheltered to produce. Can’t defend, can’t shoot, isn’t physical. Add another year at 5,5m$. I can’t see an high demand for him.

I know in the past there were rumors that said Leks was one of the Habs that GM's were calling the most about. I've always liked him and would just rather re-sign him to a long term deal if he's willing. Such a hard worker and while most of the time he looks like he couldn't score into a wide open barn but what a great forechecker and you need guys like him.

If a team overpays then I guess you have to trade depending how good the offer is.

Kulak stinks imo, no way would I say he's a fine 5th or even 6th D. No offense, way too inconsistent in his own end. He will show flashes where he looks like he could be a solid bottom pairing D but it never sticks. If he's a 7th D ok but I've just never been a fan. I would be happy if we got a 5th for him, take it and run.

Drouin I can't stand and would just be happy not to have him on the team but we will need bodies unless management somehow thinks they can fix this mess much quicker then I think they can. If not then might as well just keep him and hope he can put up some points next year and get something in return. Granted if teams want to give something for him above say a 4th round pick then take it but I know the rumors in the past where that they tried to trade him and had no takers, granted he had a good bit more money owed and last year's off ice issues didn't help his trade value to go with the wrist injury the year before where he missed so much time.

what are the expected returns for Lehk?
2nd+Robertson get it done?

that seems fair, even more then fair. I like Leks so would not want to see him on the leafs and would rather not trade him as long as he wants to stay but if they did then I hope the return would be around that.

All this hate for Drouin goddamn, he's actually underrated at this point. Not that he's going to have a ton of value with his cap hit but it feels like each year in Montreal Drouin's been getting better. Streaky and prone to dumb plays but he's actually a really good offensive player for the most part and not nearly as bad defensively as reading this thread might have you believe.

He's terrible defensively, the effort is too inconsistent, he's too much of a cream puff out there. He does do some dumb shit at times which just makes him that much more frustrating. With the right fit though I could see him doing really well but I just don't see teams wanting to take a chance on him outside of it being very cheap or 50% retained and cheap.

well said, that sums him up.

1. Habs would likely retain so he comes at 2.75 for this year and next.
2. 20 pts in 32 games on a tire fire team seems pretty good to me.
3. He is outperforming most of the guys on The Oilers and I can easily argue he would have way better numbers playing with McDrai.
Problem is that most playoff teams have better top 6 players and he isn’t a player you put in the bottom 6. You’d basically be getting him to fill in the lineup in case of injuries to the top 6 and playing in a very sheltered role. His value will be low.

Admittedly, agree about Drouin skill level is near elite, but he's mentally weak.

He cannot be the main star and needs to play for a team that shelters his inefficiencies. Resembles Yakupov, excellent in Juniors and unable to translate the skills to the NHL. I expect him to be moved for pennies or released after the remainder of the 1.5 year deal expire. AVs could be a possibility with the Mackinnon connection with retention or PTO seeking another opportunity.

I wonder if Sakic would look at Drouin (50% ret.) as a reclamation project in the offseason if re-signing Burakovsky proves to be too expensive. Drouin isn't very good at back-checking or forechecking which are prerequisites in Bednar's system, but then again neither is Burakovsky. Maybe if you stick Nichuskin on Drouin's line maybe you can cover some of the glaring flaws.

To be clear, Drouin would be very far down the list of forwards I'd want Sakic to acquire; I'm just thinking out loud here.

I would hope our new GM is a bit smarter than that.
