Unless Karlsson keeps up what he's doing.
Ah, yes, I agree. What I meant was that very responsible center that slows down the game in the O zone and sets up other players. The typical Swedish center. Karlsson is like Rakell, a hardworking speedster with a goalscorer's touch. Very complete players, but very different to past generations.
What do you mean the media, who's NOT going bananas? This roster is frigging INSANE! When I saw the additions, all I could think of was this song to describe this team:
Yeah lets have a number 1 pp without a center.PP1 better be Rakell - Forsberg - Arvidsson - Hörnqvist - Klingberg or we riot.
Rakell was drafted as one and has played there when needed for the ducks. PP1 would be so overstacked compared to PP2, though.Yeah lets have a number 1 pp without a center.
Probably about half of the Swedish forwards on this team can play center. We could go Rakell-Zibanejad-Backlund-Janmark/Kempe as 1-2-3-4 C if we wanted.
But Bäckström might be the last center of his kind. The positions are more interchangeable these days with the way everybody skates.
Have you seen him play center in the NHL? I have, it wasn’t really even close to what he is as a winger, in a bad way.Rakell was drafted as one and has played there when needed for the ducks. PP1 would be so overstacked compared to PP2, though.
What do you mean the media, who's NOT going bananas? This roster is frigging INSANE! When I saw the additions, all I could think of was this song to describe this team:
This team is so skilled, so defensively strong, such an offensive threat and so deep, both at defense and offense, that I would barely care who's in net? And we have a red hot Hellberg, combined with Nilsson refusing to give up. I'm slightly aroused.
Rakell - Zibanejad - Janmark are already gold class. Then we have Forsberg and Arvidsson put together with whoever, Backlund I guess, although I would almost suggest putting him on the 3rd line at this point. But with him as captain, that's never going to happen. Then we have Hörnqvist lurking as a golden roleplayer, on another line! And we get to scratch all the question marks.
And then we have a defensive line that is world class, that is an amazing blue line. I could go on for eternity.
Jonas is a gem and IMO the best swedish expert out there. It's a shame that he doesn't get to see more action frequently.I think they are the worst. Especially when Renberg goes into full funeral mode. I like Jonas Andersson though.
Rickard Wallin is the best expert out there imo.
Are Swedes making another mistake: Putting up an "all-star team", your team play goes sideways and you fail?
Partille pöjk. Started following hockey for real after watching Frölunda - Luleå playoff series in '95. They almost killed each other out there and as a young kid that stuck with me to this day.where is everyone from in sweden? I am from Gävle, started getting mad interest in hockey after watching Peter Forsberg at WJC 1993. It was such an unreal sight.
Well that's a interesting take.
50/50 on that matter...in the juniors; yes 100%, in the NHL? not any more.Rakell is a natural center.
Well,... hasn't it happen before for the Swedes?
I really don't know. Maybe. You sometimes loose no matter what.
In any case, you usually take the best players you can get, and see where that gets you. I really doubt you are the kinda guy who says no to Aho, because nope... too skilled... destroys team play.
Or what about Tolvanen? A unproven offensive specialist. Personally I'm on the edge here if Finnish team really needs that guy? He might destroy our team play, we should opt for some grinder instead.
